We went here in the last days of 2012. We were triggered by the review in the lonely planet and the beautiful website of the hotel itself. We initially planned to stay here for four nights, but after one night we changed it to two. We were dissapointed, let us explain why:
The place looks beautiful. There is a nice garden, rooms and restaurant look modern, cosy and are clean. There is also a good wifi connection.
However....The staff is friendly but doesn't speak english. They did not make us feel welcome because they did not try to communicate with us. The manager was continuously avoiding us. Although, they did arrange a perfect transport for us from HCMC Airport. You can also rent a motorbike to explore the surrounding area (costs: 2 dollar per hour). The environment is lovely: beautiful dunes and remoted beaches. Besides that there is not much more to see than the resorts you had already seen across the street....
Rooms are decent but small. During our stay there was no hot water. Big bummer here.. They didn't cleaned our room either (so no new drinking water and new toiletpaper). They have an extended menu (also in english) but a lot of dishes were not available. The dishes that were available were very average. There are no options for vegetarians. On our last day they did not even have bread for breakfast, only noodles.
If you want to ignore this review and still planning to stay here you can go to the resort on the opposite side of the road (Ho coc beach resort and Spa) to take a swim in their great pool (ticket 4,5 dollar). In fact the place may be a bit more expensive (100.000 vnd / 5 dollar per night) but offers a lot more. So skip Ven Ven hotel and book a room on the other side of the street.
