I wanted to treat myself to a quick weekend getaway to Vung Tau for my birthday and used my ANZ card for a discounted stay at around $91 a night. Reservation was easy and done online through email. We only stayed one night in the hotel but that was all we needed. The resort is only about 5 mins north of the hydrofoil port and we rented a scooter from someone at the port for 150,000 after some heavy bargaining. They ask for 200,000 which is ludicrous coming from HCMC.

The resort itself is nicely situated on a hill and some complain of steep climbs but I did not find it too difficult. We, however, were placed in room 116 (premium deluxe room) which is at the front of the resort and is advertised as having full sea views but ours was heavily obscured by the restaurant in front. We could see the ocean on the left and right side. The room itself was fine and it had no broken areas that I could see as compared to some photos on TA (perhaps those are the standard rooms?). The resort did not seem full but I wondered why we weren't placed further up with a better view.

The pool was nice and sufficiently sized but there were very little choices of items available on the pool bar menu. In fact, there wasn't really much of a bar in the pool bar. I'm not sure if they had actually run out of everything (all juices except orange and coconuts!) or if they couldn't be bothered going down to the restaurant. Breakfast in the buffet room was a little sad and yes, there is a view of the ocean but the food looked like last night's buffet and the atmosphere was a little depressing. Perhaps they could try to move it downstairs to their bigger restaurant (this restaurant has great food and is well priced!). On the Sunday morning of our departure, we were woken up at 7.30am by the loud noises outside of cleaning staff on their radios and doors slamming. I would expect that on Sunday morning staff would be more aware of people sleeping in.

The one redeeming quality was the friendliness of the staff. Every person we dealt with was very lovely. However, the receptionist asked how my stay was and I said there were some issues but she did not ask me to explain further. It is not a terrible place but there are many changes I would make to the pool bar, breakfast, room allocation and the prices. We agreed that Vung Tau is overpriced and we are never coming back, Ho Tram is much better!

Room Tip: Premium deluxe rooms were pretty clean and request higher rooms.

The room was so dirty: moisture in the room and the bathroom, wholes in the wall, didn't even dare go on the balcony... Beach and ocean are pretty far from the hotel so you should rent a scooter, what we did at the hotel. We paid 200000dong a day! The hotel staff lied to us and said that it was the current price in the city, which is totally not! Speaking of staff, never have seen a staff that rude, impolite, unhelpful etc

Looking for some peace and tranquility while on holiday? This hotel fits the bill. Nestled atop a hillside overlooking the sea, the cluster of low rise villas beckons you a warm welcome. A steep sloping road leads you to the office manned by very efficient receptionists. The rooms are spacious and had a small balcony overlooking the large swimming pool. A fruits platter was given and was refilled daily. The massaging shower and cute shell-shaped soap is worthy of mention. I had a blown balcony bulb replaced within less than 5 mins which showed the high standards of maintenance. Hotel guests get 10 % off at the busy roadside Cafe, filled to capacity every evening. The extra large Restaurant run by the Management even had live fishes and eels but prices are steep! We chose to eat at David's and Restaurant 9 which offered better value as we were mobile. All in all, a most pleasant experience, away from HCMC for a relaxing break.

A lovely relaxing stay was just what we needed, and exactly what we got! Reception was friendly and efficient throughout, and with very good spoken English. Room 415 is bright, modern, spotlessly clean and has a good view over the pool to the sea. The pool area and gardens are attractive and well maintained. Breakfast buffet was great - a good selection, nicely presented and regularly replenished. Previous reviewers commented on a drab breakfast room, but we enjoyed a bright, spacious room with panoramic view over the sea. The on- site restaurant gives a 10% discount to hotel guests. Quality and value were very good and misunderstandings due to my lack of Vietnamese language were always resolved with good humour! Bicycle hire from reception (first 2hrs. each day free) is a fun and cheap way to get around for sight seeing, beaches, shopping etc. We found no good beaches locally - they seem to be in the "back beach" area, but there's good swimming away from the crowds just 2 - 3 km North from the hotel and interesting small towns and fishing ports just a bit further. The hotel is about 2km North of the ferry terminal and taxi drivers may try to ask an unreasonable fare. We negotiated down from $25 to $2, but the hotel's own car was best value. The hotel is built on a quite steep slope so may not be suitable for those with mobility problems, but otherwise I'd recommend it to anyone.

We were very pleased with our one night stay at this hotel. I believe we had room 416 which was one of the top floor villa rooms and had a really good sea view from the huge windows. Even from the shower room! Breakfast was okay with lots of both Asian and Western choices. A fruit platter was waiting for us in the room. Cleaning should be improved though - toilet was not totally clean and carpet near the bed had stains. We did not complain about this issue during the stay and I have the feeling that reception would have dealt with it professionally right away so it is not costing any stars this time. Staff was pleasant. Had good Italian coffee at the sea front cafe. Paid around 100 USD for the one night stay through third party website. Hotel is not near any good beach but has a great pool area with bar, lots of chairs and pool towels available. Hotel is a few minutes by taxi from Vung Tau ferry terminal. There are quite a few restaurants within walking distance but otherwise not much around the hotel.

Room Tip: Our sea view villa room on the top floor had an amazing 180 degree sea view.

We stayed for two nights and booked a room with twin beds. At check in, the hotel reception informed us that they would have to charge an additional USD 20 per night for our 11-year-old daughter since this was the hotel rule. Since there was no extra bed provided, we were somewhat miffed and considered that this was greedy since the rate we considered was high to begin with.

We had no complaints about our room, a reasonable standard, a good balcony with partial sea view. The hotel had a nice swimming pool but somewhat limited sunbeds.

The buffet breakfast was the let down for this hotel. The breakfast room lacked atmosphere, which seemed to be out of character with the general hotel style. There breakfast room was plain, awful looking furniture, various dishes started to run low at 0830 hrs. which ran out completely by 0900 hrs. during the days we stayed there. We concluded that buffet breakfast in Southern Vietnam appears to be once prepared, never replenish, first come, first served.

Reception staffs were friendly and helpful. However, we would not stay at the hotel again as we considered it was very poor value for money even without the additional USD 20 charge per night for our daughter.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to the seaside.
