Owner description: Join the Local Can Tho Street Food Tour and explore Cantho life through the food we eat. Learn more about our food and the culture of the Mekong-Delta. What will you experience+ A walk through some of the upcoming locations in Can Tho city+ Absolutely local street food+ Locally produced beer and freshly-made fruit drinks+ The Mekong city life through the eyes of a local and cultural stories on the corners we pass+ Interesting facts about the food we eat+ Meeting other international traveller and locals. Celebrate Mekong Street Food: ❶ We start the tour at a place where we get a deep fried fish tofu stick and beef snack balls (7.000VND). ❷ We continue to a place in the food street, where we eat Banh Cong (10.000 VND), a Can Tho traditional pie cake made from a mixture of green beans, little shrimp and minced pork, which is steamed and then deep fried in a flour dough. ❸ At the next location we try “Nem Nuong” - pork BBQ rolled up in rice paper with rice noodles, lettuce, thin banana slices, Asian basil, mint, pineapple, coriander, fresh herbs and leaves, that you dip in a yummy sweet-spicy sauce (18.000 VND/portion). ❸ If you are getting thirsty, do not worry. We will right away stop by a local pub and enjoy an extra-large jug of “Phong Dinh” beer (36.000 VND/2L), the locally produced beer named after the historic name of Can Tho city. ❺ Arriving at the riverside a friendly lady, known by the Can Tho youth since their childhood, “Di map” (Jie map), will make us the most yummy sticky rice (6.000 VND). ❻ We will end our evening excursion at a street cafe in the quay area with a fresh smoothie made from fruits of the delta (15.000 VND). Options: As we have dozens of locations and hundreds of street food stalls in the city, we can adapt the tour to the preferences of our daily groups. There is an option of a Vegetarian tour or an “Out of the ordinary tour” available where you can try rather strange food like grilled field mice, snakes, frogs or snails.Start: 6.30 pm daily. Place: 93 Mau Than Street, Xuan Khanh, Ninh Kieu in Can Tho. Price: Pay What You Like at the end of the tour.

We arrived in Can Tho on our 2nd day in Vietnam. The previous day in Rach Gia, we struggled with getting food on the street as we speak almost no Vietnamese and locals there speak no English. This tour helped us feel more confident in knowing not only what to order but also how to pronounce the dishes correctly! The guides were super friendly, spoke great English and were eager to answer any questions we had. We loved the Bánh Công so much we went back the next day for more! Highly recommend! Don't forget to tip, the tour is free!!

We love to discover new foods and this tour was a great introduction to street food - and knew what we were eating thanks to Eden's explanations ;) Definitely recommend!

“An absolute must in Can Tho!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2014

We were taken to a variety of different places to try the local food and drink. The tour is a really great way to spend an inexpensive evening wandering Can Tho with a great group of people, a really fantastic local guide and some really good food and drink. When you get the chance to try the field mouse take it, I found it to surprisingly delicious!

“Food tour was awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2014

We are so happy to have found this walking tour of Can Tho street food. Our guide was super friendly and took us to places we never would have found on our own. There were only four people in our group so it didn't feel very "touristy", it was fun and intimate. If you are on your first trip to Vietnam I would highly recommend this tour, we found it very helpful to be able to learn the names of dishes and how they are meant to be eaten.

“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2014

We had a great time doing the Can Tho food tour. Our host, a local guy in his 20s, spoke perfect English and took us around all the best spots to eat and drink in the city; most of which I would never have thought to visit without local guidance as they don't look much from the outside but produce some of the nicest food in Can Tho. We particularly enjoyed the BBQ pork dish from 'fat guy' (our host translated the name). We learnt so much from our friendly tour guide not just about food but about Vietnamese culture more generally as he had no problem answering any questions we had! I would highly recommend the tour to anyone who is visiting Can Tho - it is worth so much more than just [the suggested] $5 that we paid to have a local show you the real Can Tho!
