“A little paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

Beautiful teak floors, comfortable bed, spacious room, all made for a lovely place to stay while we were on a tour by Exotissimo. We are easy to please so have nothing negative to say. The dining room was open to the outside where we could enjoy the lush plants. Buffet was typically Thai but filling. There were whimsical items in the reception area and a swinging bridge which led to some interesting ruins. Staff was friendly.

We really liked Sukhothai being far less busy than Ayuthaya. The best way to see the sites is by bike as the old city is mainly pedestranised apart from a couple of temples 10 minutes bike ride away. The restaurant was a highlight being next to the river which had small fountains and lights at night.
The pool was small but fine for a relaxing read and swim except when 3 Chinese families decided to invade enmass and scream and splash everyone. The staff should have sorted this out as very shortly everyone left the pool as it was impossible to stay.
The main issue with the hotel was the outside corridors at night. For some reason the lights outside were kept on all night and they had very bright bulbs, this together with thin curtains meant it was very difficult to sleep at night.
All in all the service was great, the location of the hotel was excellent being right next to the old city and we thoroughly enjoyed being somewhere non touristy.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a room with extra thick curtains or request the outside lights be turned off.

This is an old style resort in a lovely setting, well located for old Sukothai.  I was in a deluxe room which had lots of personality, but creaky floors and poor soundproofing with adjacent rooms.  Nice pool, but noisy when lots of kids around.  Evening buffet was only 300 baht, but poor and tasteless.  Bring lots of mosquito repellant.  Breakfast buffet was not that great either.

We had two nights here. The room was amazing. It was large and beautifully furnished. The bathroom was great and even had a bath, superb after travelling on Thai trains and buses. The staff were lovely and reception helpful. The big downside for us was the expense of the restaurant at 600 bt for 2 plates of French fries and the huge number of Mosquitos around the restaurant too. My wife was ill in Sukhothai due to sunstroke and this was a good place to be ill as it was comfy. We advise beware of the sun at the historical site... Lovely ruins but hot, drink lots of water and take rest. If you stay at this hotel put on lots of insect repellant as there are lots of mossies.A tip, the restaurant closes at 9.30 and you need to order before 9.00 which we found strange. We very nearly went hungry as our train fro Bangkok was delayed 4 hours and we arrived very late. We ordered at 9 and the only things we could order were French fries and sandwiches so beware if you arrive late.

I really liked the rooms and the service all round was impressive, however the breakfast is appalling - and I'm relatively tolerant. My traveling companion made me promise to rate it as the worst food he'd had for a long time. I think he's not far from accurate.

That aside, the pool was out of action (maintenance issues) but I was shuttled for free to a sister hotel to enjoy their pool. I was quite impressed with that (but it didn't make up for the breakfast).

All in all, not bad and certainly value for money and I would stay again.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms at the far side of the hotel. They all back onto a lane and farms and the motorcycle...

We stayed here for the festival in Sukhothai and the Hotel is just what you expect for Thailand!
The look and decor was great, the rooms were all hardwood floors with dark wood, nice and big! The service was great and they had entertainment most nights with Thai dancers! Great location for the Loi Kutrang festival!

Room Tip: Everything was great! Bring a swimsuit for the pool!

The hotel is set out like a Thai village and eating in the resaurant was a pleasure with the river running alongside and a lovely view of the buildings. There was a buffet every evening and although the food was the same each night there was a wide variety to choose from. The breakfast also had a good choice of western or Thai food
The staff could not have been more accomodating, they were pleasant and very helpful.
The cabin was clean with TV and coffee making facilities, the A/C quiet which is always a bonus when you need it on at night. You also have a small garden space at the back of your cabin to relax with a drink.
The pool was warm with an attached jaccuzi and we enjoyed a foot massage at the side of the pool
The hotel is slightly back from the main road and you only have to walk out to the road and catch the local bus ( a truck with long wooden benches down each side) to Ancient Sukhotai for 20 baht. The buses are every few minutes and slow right down as they approach so you cant miss them.
Just wander out of the back of the hotel and you are at the Elephant Wat out in the country side.
The hotel is not overpriced and I would thoroughly recommend a stay there.
