Something needs to be made clear about this resort; it is a place of two types of accommodation. There are the de-luxe rooms costing an arm and a leg and the cheap rooms in the older wooden construction part. We booked through Agoda, whose website made no distinction between the two types of accommodation at first gkance. On the basis of the glowing reports on Trip Advisor, we chose this resort rather than others and were amazed that Agoda had it with a room rate of just 750 baht, so we thought that we would upgrade to a superior room for a few baht more. It is only when one looks at Agoda's site again that one sees that there is a button for other room types and it shows de-luxe rooms at a far higher cost.
We had booked our room at fairly short notice and then had decided that my wife's father should come with us and stay there too as the rates were reasonable. My wife and father in law are Thai. When we arrived to book in after a lengthy car journey from Bangkok, it became clear that our room was in the wooden part of the resort. We were further horrified to find that there was no en-suite, the bathrooms being across the corridor. They had not recieved the booking request for my father in law and had showed us a room similar to ours. They had said that because it was a walk in rate, the room was 1300 baht. My wife discussed it with them and they agreed a price of 1000 baht. It only became clear to me later that evening when we had returned from eating dinner out, that the room that was on offer to him was not the one of similar size to ours, but a very much smaller one of only about 10 foot square. I was livid, as that part of the resort was just a glorified guest house and therefore 1000 baht for a room without an en-suie was very overpriced.
So for anyone wishing to stay here, be aware that if you book the cheap accommodation, you are in a room with wooden walls no thicker than your average garden fence panel. Therefore, you will hear noise from traffic on the road about 40 feet away. You will have no en-suite facilites. If you like that sort of thing, it was clean and no doubt very charming. You pay your money and take your choice, but I appear to be the first to point out the pitfalls of the cheaper accommodation.
But I have another complaint. There was quite a nice swimming pool, but it was unusable because the water was so green that one could not see the bottom. Having a relaxing swim after a tiring drive might have improved our temper, but there is no excuse for making the pool unusable through neglect.
