“Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

This place makes you pause and think. It's so serene and peaceful. You just walk around in amazement and feel taken aback by it's beauty and age. The buddah head in the tree was really neat to see. This was one of my favorite places we visited.

“The history is mind boggling”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

There is nothing to dislike here. The preservation is astounding and tasteful and the place is very well kept. The restoration work has been carried out with great taste.

“Highlight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

Tip: There are buses that leave you in the ruins for 30B (supposedly children pay less). tuk tuk drivers try to rip you off.
This site is absolutely gorgeous. It's very well preserved. The Buddha image is impressive. One of the park highlight.

“What a WAT.....!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

Sukhothai was the capital city of Siam from around 1238 to the mid 1300's and there is much to see in the Historical Park. Wat Mahathat is just one of those beautiful places that is best seen in the early morning before the crowds and the heat arrive. There are many statues in the park and one is an unusual walking Buddha with a feminine look...our guide pointed out the "beauty" of the hips, the fingers and toes all the same length with the hand hanging down to the knees. There is also a statue of a king...revered for his actions at bringing peace to Thailand.
