The Old City Guesthouse is situated in Old Sukhothai, quite near the entrance to the temple ruins of Sukhothai - so a very good place to start early in the morning to visit the fantastic ruins right before all the tourists from New Sukhothai in their little aircon busses. It's much better to rent a bike on the corner next to the guesthouse to discover more. The guesthouse (a big part of it teak wood) itself offers a variety of big, clean, nice rooms with or without aircondition but at least with fan, and it's cheap, you pay around 300 Bath for a fan room with separate private bathroom with shower (warm water incl. although you might not need it in the heat of Sukhothai). Looking for something good to eat (there's no restaurant in the guesthouse) try out the little restaurants near by, seem to have all the same owner but all very good food or walk to the market where at least in low season (for example may) you might be the only tourist there but they'll welcome you with a warm smile. There're also 2 or 3 ATMs so you won't be out of money :-) Old Sukhothai is very calm, so if you're looking for some nightlife you'll probably will be disappointed, if you're looking for some peace you'll be fine :-)
