I recently spent 6 nights at the Golden Buddha Resort. The beach is lovely and the staff was very nice. I especially found the manager, Thanya to be personable. Unfortunately, they had problems with the water while I was there so I was without running water for 2 days of my 6 day visit. I sure hope that isn't the norm, but it was frustrating for me. The resort is time consuming to reach, several hours by taxi and boat or expensive to reach with the sea plane. The accomodations are very basic, not luxurious at all. I overhead one guest make the following comment and I think it sums it up pretty well, "this is one step above camping". That being said, the beach is beautiful and the food at the reosrt is acceptable. But, there are no other options for food. There is no cooking in the bungalow and the resort is so remote that there are no restaurants nearby. All in all, it was an okay experience.

Golden Buddha Beach Resort is located on a secluded tropical island in the Andaman Sea. We are definitely off the beaten tourist path and getting here is just part of the adventure.

Because of our remote location, we have to build and maintain our own infrastructure (including electricity and water). We always make sure that there is a reserve of bathing water (100 liters) in every home. The same is true for purified drinking water which we bring from the mainland by boat.

We strive to provide a level of service that parallels resorts found in more developed locations. For those who love nature, appreciate different cultures, and prefer accommodations with character and style, then Golden Buddha Beach Resort is the right choice.

Stayed at Golden Buddha for 2 weeks in Feb 07 as a solo traveller. An absolutely amazing location if you want to get away from everything. The beach is amazing, 10km of golden sands, palm trees and warmest sea imaginable. At the busiest expect to share those 10km with about 10 other guests! Accommodation was very good, but not really luxurious by Western standards. Expect frogs, ants, lizards (which weren't a problem), maybe monkeys or if you are unlucky even a snake to make a house call. Biggest complaint about accommodation was that the bed was VERY hard, so if you don't like hard beds, combined with the hot nights, it can make for very unconfortable sleeping. All meals are taken in clubhouse and the food was plentiful, very varied and excellent. Typical Thai food, so quite spicy/hot at times but with an excellent choice of fresh, fresh fish, meat dishes and vegetarian. Staff and Management are absolutely brilliant and will help you with whatever you need. Barman doubles up as excellent guide and kayaking trip into mangroves
was really good. Massage was also excellent. Electricity generator is switched off however every night at 11.00pm and bar is usually empty by about 10pm, so if you like a bit of night life this is not the place for you. I would definitely recommend this resort for a short term stay as part of a trip to Thailand, but long term may be a bit too boring for most people. There are no roads, no shops, no TV/radio, no landline phones, no medical supplies, so as a solo traveller it did feel at times a little like Purgatory in Paradise! It was however a very safe and gentle place to stay and perfect for a meditative type of holiday. On the negative, internet connection was very expensive and although mosquitoes weren't too bad, black sand flies were very bad (bite and itch like European midgies), the closer it got to full moon. I would go again, but not quite for so long!

This is Thailand's most remote and unspoilt beach resort. It lies on a large, virtually undeveloped island just south of Burma in the Andaman Sea. This large island has only 3 small villages, none are near the resort.

The resort is composed of homes of private Americans and Europeans who rent them to paying guests when not using them. Each is unique and on a large private plot. Half are right on the beach and the remaining ones are less than a 100 meters from the beach.

The beach is beautiful! Over 10 kilometers with absolutely no sign of man. The resort has another kilometer of beach front plus there is a bay with good snorkeling tha has another 6 or so kilometer of golden sandy beach. This is a good jumping off place for diving trips to the Surin Islands and Richelieu Rock.
