“Quiet and cheap”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2011

I stayed for one night at Villa de Pai and wish it could have been much longer. I was placed in a bungalow with a queen-sized bed and an ensuite bathroom for 200 baht / night. It had hot water and a mosquito net, though I didn't need it. Really clean; great location at the end of the main street. There's a FANTASTIC hippie restaurant across the street with loads of vegetarian and vegan options (and walls of wheatgrass). ^^

I m just writing afte My week stay in villa de Pai, must say that I found a little paradise there. The place was clean and quiet. The only thing that was a bit if the problem was the drive way getting very muddy and slippery after the rain.

Lovely and highly recommend it

at first,we just wanted to stay here for only 1 night, but we found that it was not bad to stay here,it's convenient to go anywhere,we slept well here,at least there were no mosquitoes, that was very important to me,though it was not warm enough to tuck in the blanket, and the most important to me is,the people here are so friendly,we made the first group of Thai friends here,i think when i go to pai again, here must be my first choice to saty.

The villas (or cabins) at Villa de Pai were comfortable, offering everything you probably wouldn't expect in such affordable accommodation, such as free internet access in your room, fridge, tv and 2 double beds complete with net curtains and hot shower.
Our terrace by the river would've afforded a nice view had it not been pouring down with rain during the one night we stayed, meaning one of the downsides being the loss of electricity for a couple of minutes, and rain leaking into the bathroom! Although clean, there was more bugs than some would like, so not a stay for the faint-hearted. Also, we experienced a toilet blockage too, so do keep in mind!
Overall I would recommend for the budget traveller as it's full of character, and the location in Pai is central so you can stroll around the town till late and not have far to walk back.

There is a reason why the rooms have a plunger in the bathroom - the toilet blocks for absolutely no reason. Imagine yourself having a stomach bug and having to plunge the toilet too.

The walls were black with mold.

The noise from the other huts, no effort (or sign) from management to try and quell the all night partying. No security on site.

Mirror dangerously balancing in the bathroom.

Previous occupants clothes still in a cupboard in the room.

No cleaning of the room or changing of towels during the 3 nights we were there.

The best thing about it was checking out.

We found this place by chance after travelling to pai for a few days from Chiang Mai.

The cabins vary from 500baht up to 600baht (about 8.50gbp), the best thing is that they all have free internet access!! The only difference between the more expensive cabins and the cheaper ones is that you are located on the river which offers a better view.

Nice staff, clean cabin and hot showers make this place good value for money.

The only problem while we were there was the threat of sudden power cuts (this affects the whole town) but the new power line they seem to be building should fix this in the future!
