One of those concrete bunkers that were built in the 90s and has become derelict already. The initial investment done, nothing seems to be posible anymore. The hotel is in need of a few tons of paint. The furniture is designed to look impressive, not for practicality. The hotel has a musty smell of wet concrete. The first room we were sent to had not been made up yet (around 0400pm). The curtains in our rooms were in tatters. The batteries of the remote control were empty. The water in the bath room was just warm enough for a bath. The food from the room service had to be put outside. We asked the staff to pick it up. They promised every time. In the morning it was of course still there. That is how many hotels in Asia breed rats on all floors. The swimming pool was decorated with plastic bags. The location is well away from everything, I felt like a prisoner. The staff does it umost best to complicate everything untill they find a solution at their price off course.
I have experience with hotels in Asia. n the morning, before breakfast, I gave the key at the reception and told them to check the room and the pitiful minibar, so I could leave immy after breakfast. Of course they did not. I was (nearly by force) stopped by a doorman who refused to release my luggage. There were about 15 guests in he hotel and in 25 minutes they had not managed to check the room. The breakfast was standard, this means they think they can dump everything on a few tables and you eat cold eggs and sausages. There was a lady who fried fresh eggs, she did not even know how to do this. At a table, a few local politicians had a kind of meeting/celebration and were extremely noisy.
In short: avoid when posible
Positive: quiet in the night (most Thai hotels do not offer that anymore), good beds. The view on the Lao-Thai friendship bridge.
Negative: the rest.
PS: I wonder how this hotel can get positive comments. I travel a lot in Asia and I have found worse that this only in India. I am ready to visit the hotel with any professional tourism critic.
PPS: I have not see anything mentioning Holliday Inn in this hotel. That must be a mistake.
