“Very good diving school! Open water”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

The standard hotel rooms aren`t very nice but cheap and only for sleeping ok.
But for 2 days we choose the hilltop suite and that`s really nice (extra fee). Service also good.
Wifi didn`t worked and there`s no telephon in the rooms, so for each problem you have to move 5 minutes the way down to the hotel reception. The resort is quite nice, but it`s best times where over. The diving course and our diving Instructor Luca were very professional. Thanks at this point.Couldn`t be better. We want to come back next year for diving and join the advanced course.

Great place if your booking a package deal with diving. It is definitely a young party persons place to stay not really a family place. Would highly recommend for diving but you can definitely find better accomodations for similar or cheaper. Rooms are nice and clean and comfortable (as long as you are not staying in the cheapies. Definitely recommend hilltop for a good sleep. We will be returning to continue our dive education.

Bans Diving resort is a diving school which offers rooms, not a hotel which offers diving. The diving aspect was great, we did the 4 day open water course which was good fun and we both felt we learnt a lot. Our diving instructor was Dom Evans, who was absolutely brilliant. If you go here, ask for Dom! Great enthusiasm and passion, very informative and patient! That made our trip very worthwhile as we were both slightly nervous! With regards to the room, it was basic and clean (deluxe room). Somehow a frog got into the bathroom which scared my partner in the night! Nice hot powerful shower which is quite rare out here! There was a dodgy smell on the odd occasion in the room but otherwise is was all fine. The wifi is a bit hit and miss if that's important to you. Unless you're particularly fussy I wouldn't worry about staying here.

I'd recommend it for diving as it's all convenient but it's not somewhere to stay for a few days in Koh Tao

The course: fantastic! We just did the day course, completely new to diving. We got two amazing instructors who took great care of each person making sure we were all ok through out the dive and the skills training was second to none. Highly recommend!!

The room: we paid extra to get a hill top room, only to find ants and even spiders in our beds throughout the stay, rooms are basic and the shower will not fit anyone over 5ft5.

Service: other than the darawan restaurant where the service was fab, all other hotel workers we dealt with were rude and miserable.

Would definitely return for the diving course. But not the hotel itself.

The location is great. The diving school attached to it is even better. The rooms are alright, the bathrooms could be better. The beach is right there and very laid back. The wifi didn't work and that was a pain point, other wise had a good stay there. A good option for first time divers.

We were recommended Ban's by a friend so naturally we headed over there. Rooms were free with diving and we opted for the ones right down by the beach. Theory courses were a little boring but a necessary part of the experience. Our instructors were Jaffa and Josh and they were literally the best ever. I had a lot of trouble with my diving at first and Jaffa took me out on a private lesson after the regular day to help me get more comfortable in the water. Really helped me out! After completing our Open Water they took us out for a night on the beach and we loved it all so much we stayed for another 2 days to hammer out the Advanced Course. It was a little hectic but they made it totally bearable and as much fun as possible. The Fishbowl bar has great food and the resort is right in the middle of the beach, literally cannot get any better. Ban's equipment was top notch as well. The rooms were for 2 people each and decent size with a balcony. Beds were clean and comfortable, definitely no complaints there. The staff is very helpful and pretty well versed in English as well which is nice.

Honestly cannot recommend Ban's enough. One of the best experiences of my life here especially for someone who hasn't had the best experiences in the water.

We‘ve been to Ban’s Diving Resort this June as a friend of ours has highly recommended its Dive Programs. Both of us have never dived before and we had only 3 days to spare for the PADI Open Water course. But as we got in contact with Ban’s Diving, this was no problem and we got a “fast” private course for only the two of us (without additional cost). Our Diving Instructor (Dom Evans) was exceptional. He was not only very patient with us, but most importantly made us feel comfortable and save throughout all dives, which we enjoyed very much! Thanks a lot for that!

Ban’s Diving Resort is quite a big Diving school with a lot of students, so they are able to start at least one new course per day. . And as there are several groups going for a dive each day, the boats are quite spacious (compared to other diving schools) and even have facilities for refilling the oxygen tanks so that we didn’t have to carry those on to the boat by ourselves. On the boat water, coffee, tea, pineapple and biscuits were offered between the dives. Also the shuttle service from the resort to the pier is organized very well.
Our (fan) room (included in the course fee) was small, but clean and absolute fine for the 3 nights we spent there. The Resort itself is quite a big complex and beside its beachfront restaurant (delicious meals for reasonable prices) also a mini mart, a dive shop and 2 pools, which are really nice for the first diving experience as well as for relaxing hours!

To conclude, we can highly recommend Ban’s to everyone and we just started to plan a second stay at the resort to do our Open Water advanced course! If you want to have a good diving instructor (English speaking) ask for Dom! He’s really cool! :-)
