“Pretty standard for koh tao standards.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014 via mobile

Bungalows are quite simple. We paid about $45 a night for a small place up the hill. I would be very worried about it leaking but it didn't rain for us. I have found a lot of koh tao places aren't as good as rest of Thailand: this one was no exception. The top section called "paradise zone" is actually really cool thou. Swimming pool on top of hill and great big balcony almost empty all the time- we went there everyday.

Nice stay in Koh Tao - we stayed in a bungalow which was up some quite steep steps. The bungalow itself was pretty rustic and the bathroom was open top (so no privacy if your other half is in the bungalow too!) Had to pay for a tuk tuk cab down to the main beach each night as there's not an awful lot around the hotel. Great if you want a quiet stay, but would have been better for us if we'd stayed nearer the beach/bars/restaurants.

Pros: lovely views from the top, complimentary transfer from and to the pier, free transfer to and from the beach zone every half hour until 10pm, infinity pool at the paradise resort, two more swimming pools at the beach front, plenty sunbeds, nice food at the restaurant. Lovely massage at the beach resort area! Staff helpful, booked my boat ticket to Samui, helped with some tips about the beaches. Delicious green curry at the restaurant. Really quiet at night and can walk on the beach to cafes and bars, and also can wade in the water to Freedom Beach for some amazing snorkelling. Dive shop in the resort.

Cons: a taxi ride into Mae Had pier area with the hotel taxi is 100 Baht, back to the hotel with the local taxis 300 Baht, which is the minimum flat fee they charge at Mae Had. Paradise zone is not right on the beach, you might have to walk up and down lots of stairs if you don't want to wait for the next half-hourly taxi (it's a great workout!). Wi-fi is not available in the rooms and very intermittent and unreliable at the reception area. My room was directly under the restaurant area and, I could hear people moving chairs quite loudly at 7am and 10-11pm. Also, one of the nights has been disturbed by the sound of mice, I guess, scuttering somewhere inside the wall, not in my room, but close enough to wake me up.

Would stay again, but probably in the beachfront accommodation.

We stayed in a garden room, and it had everything that we could possibly have needed - aircon, a mini fridge, big bed and a hot shower. The pools were amazing and it was so great to be 30 seconds away from a beautiful beach. I did a dive course through the dive centre at Ko Tao Resort and they were amazing in every possible way and it was so handy being right at the resort. Just loved it!

We booked a luxury bedroom for 4pax, the room is quite big and comfortable but the decoration is really old fashioned same for the pool. The worst point is the employees they are rude and not helpfull at all. And we have been charged for a broken glass. The only good point is the location with a beach access. You can definitely find better in Koh Tao

We stayed in the "beach zone" for 7 nights. The hotel is far from a standard you would expect from a hotel with three stars. The rooms need a big renovation. Our "superior" room was a huge disappointment and we ended up changing room three times. The hotel wasn't able to provide a better room for us.
First room was just plain filthy. There was mould, dust, dirt and it was generally unclean. The bathroom was nasty. The second room was a bit better, but during the first night there was a rat in our room. The night was very unpleasant.
We asked for a new room, but the filthy room we had first was the only option at that time. We ended up there. The air-condition didn't work, there was mould in the ceiling and water was dropping from it. During the night-time lizards came in to the bathroom from a hole in the wall. The bathroom drain didn't work either and when you took a shower the water just stayed in the floor for about an hour. There was also huge worms that came from the sink or drains.
Some of the hotels housekeepers were rude and clearly very unmotivated about their job. They didn't clean the room properly.
We are usually not very demanding, but it seemed that everything went wrong in this hotel. I still have to say that the location and surroundings are great! They made our rat and mould suffering bearable.

We are travelling South East Asia, and decided to treat ourselves as 1600 baht for a standard room is not exactly cheap....but we really wish we had just slept on the beach outside. We arrived to find the room full of flies (and I mean at least 50 of the little blighters) , but not normally people to make a fuss we decided to deal with this problem ourself.....and a lot of swatting later, we had dealt with most of them. Clearly other people had a similar problem, as the dead ancestors of our victims were smeared across the walls!

On the plus side, wi-fi is good, and the pool area is quite nice.

The service is absolutely terrible though. The female receptionists will stand chatting to their mates, while you stand at the counter until you are forced to state the obvious and tell them that you want to be served. We ordered a taxi and made it clear that we needed it for 6.30am as we had to be in sairee by 7am for a dive. She initially said she couldn't do it till 7am.....so we said that unless she could organise it for 6.30am we would make alternative arrangements....and suddenly the 6.30am pick up was possible.......only it wasn't, and after taking our money clearly she clearly arranged it for 7am, as the next morning, after it didn't turn up, and with no one to speak to at reception we had to hitch a lift (2 of us on the back of a scooter) into sairee, making the boat by seconds. On our return the same receptionist claimed to have no recollection of our booking, perhaps buoyed by the fact we could not initially find our receipt. When we did, after a number of phone calls, our money was returned, but with no apology. Pressed on why it had not arrived, she suddenly could not understand a word we were saying, despite having checked us in using perfect English the previous day. Her male friend behind the counter glared at us throughout.

We did not require our room to be cleaned during our stay, but expected that the veranda facing the main path in the resort might be cleared of bottles.

The restaurant is criminally over-priced compared to the rest of chalok beach, and the food does not justify the price.

Do yourself a massive favour.....do not stay here!
