As a frequent massage goer, I decided to try The Gallery out one day, as after 2 years on Koh Tao I've been around long enough to know what a good massage and a bad massage is. So I thought I knew what a good massage was...
First off, the atmosphere- lighting- impeccable, decor- sensual, attention to detail- mind blowing, temperature- perfect. And the RUG on the floor... this rug, it must be made of clouds, sweet dreams, and cotton candy, because I can't stop walking on it. You'll see what I mean.
You are greeted by your masseuse, and given a freshly pressed set of loose fitting massage style clothes to change into, a glass of cold water, a cold towel to cool you down from the balmy island afternoons, accompanied by a soothingly warm foot bath.
So far, I've only had the opportunity to try the 60-minute Thai massage as I was a bit strapped for time. My only regret about this experience, was not making MORE time to soak up the relaxation. The massage was delightful, completely symmetrical on the spine, arms, legs, etc (a rarity with most Thai massages administered on the island- in my opinion). To check the experience of the masseuse, I did not tell her that I am actually quite sensitive to certain pressure points that are applied during the Thai massage. I didn't have to, because she was obviously so well trained that she could tell just by the way my body reacted to her movements. Impressive.
The prices are absolutely on par with the quality delivered- worth every baht. The music was very fitting, water fountains are a beautiful touch. If you want to relax, and you need a good massage, I would absolutely recommend this spa as a 'go-to' on Koh Tao.
