Having completed my Divemaster Course, I wanted to pass on my gratitude to the whole team at Master Divers.
From first contact, Master Divers were nothing but professional. Before booking my place for the course online, I had a lot of email contact with Ayesha who responded to my queries fully and promptly (always within 24 hours, if not sooner). From the first moment I had confidence in the dive operation and all the other reviews on Trip Advisor only confirmed that I had made the right choice.
From the moment I arrived I felt at home...Charlotte, the Assistant Manager welcomed me by name when I first stepped through the doors without me having to even introduce myself! The team are incredibly organised and make a point of knowing everybody's name and what their schedule is. Everybody was so friendly and made a point of including me in their conversations and by the end of the first day I already felt at home.
The Divemaster Trainee program is very comprehensive and well-run. One of the things I enjoyed the most was having the combined experience of the small and knowledgeable team as the core instructors would take the DM candidates for different portions of the course. As a result I felt that I got a very rounded experience – it’s good to see different teaching styles, learn from different instructors and of course, you get to know everybody very well.
After completing my DMT, I took advantage of the free internship offered which was extremely rewarding... I spent time guiding customers and conducting scuba reviews under supervision, working on the front desk welcoming customers and helping them with their queries, I spent time with Ayesha learning about the web /social media side of the business and also helped to manage a beach cleanup. The internship really opens your eyes in terms of what it takes not only to be a working dive professional, but also how a good dive operation is run - invaluable for those wanting to work as a Divemaster after completing their course.
Mater Divers isn't one of the bigger schools on the island, but that is one of the reasons I chose them - it feels personal, friendly, everybody knows you by name, its social and it still has a family feel. The team gets on very well and there is a feeling of mutual respect, friendship and professionalism - the team also have a lot of fun with regular social evenings so there's plenty to get involved in! I travelled to Koh Tao alone and struggled to have a night in and in the process made so many friends.
If you’re considering diving on Koh Tao I can’t recommend Master Divers highly enough. You'll get the best of the best and have lots of fun in the process.
