“A delusion”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2014

We stayed at Sea View 5 nights in August 2014 but would have left before if we hadn't booked in advance. We read some positive reviews before booking and had great expectations but the place was a delusion. It seems that the resort has a new management (a young German guy with a French girl) which is completely unfit to run the place. They seemed more interested in having fun and hanging around all the time than looking after customers' needs. It took almost one hour every morning to have breakfast ready. When we arrived, nobody let us know the resort's "rules", so we found out that: The restaurant is closed on sunday nights, the room is not cleaned up unless you ask for it, they don't really know how many motorbikes available they have so if you want to be sure to rent one, you'd better ask well in advance. In general there's a lack of planning in everything.
The superior bungalow in which we stayed was a little old and very small.
The food was very good but The service too slow.
I have to say that The view is very nice, and The resort is 15 minutes walking from Ao leuk beach and 30 minutes from The wonderful Tanote Bay. You can take a motorbike but be aware that The roads are in bad conditions. The resort is a little bit far away from everything and taxis are very expensive (150 bath per person to go everywhere).

The picture are clearly not what you will find there
We were supposed to pay 1200b for a room with aircon and TV, we ended up in a cheap, dirty bungalow, smelly bathroom with no towels, & a broken fan. The 3rd bed, was waiting for us in front of our room, folded.
The French girl that did our check in seemed friendly at the beginning, but she's bossy with customers, telling what to do and how to do it. When we ordered food it seemed like we were asking for the moon, when we're actually PAYINg for it! (The food wasn't bad tho) The manager doesn't care about customers, we felt like bothering him and interrupting him. When we stood up to pick up the salt for our breakfast (cause he was not paying attention), he shouted at us, like we were his child, because our hand should not pass the counter. Well, you might want to be responding to customers needs Stevo.
Two good points : the view is amazing up there, and one of the staff : Yuri who was very helpful, understanding and friendly from the beginning. But this has nothing to do with the hotel.
Avoid this place.

After arriving at the resort (15 min drive from the pier) we were greeted by a lovely French lady who was welcoming. However the room we were given was not like the photos on trip advisor, booking.com or their own website! Our room was small (expected) but there was holes in the floor and walls of the hut which was very worrying after reading other peoples reviews about lizards and rats coming into the rooms at night. There was rubbish left in the room from previous guests.
The bathroom was not clean at all. The complimentary soaps and shampoos had not been filled up and were near enough empty. The toilet doesn't have a flush you have to do it manually with a pan of water.
The resort is about 40 minutes from the town and about 20-30 minutes from the main beaches. Which is not the location we were expecting after reading that it is 10 minutes out of town.
We raised the issues with the manager who was not apologetic in the slightest. We were told it was our 'lucky day' as we only had to pay so much of the accomodation cost. We left the resort about an hour after arriving and booked into another hotel in the centre of town, we could not have stayed there for another minute!

I stayed here for two nights at the beginning of August and absolutely loved everything about the resort. The Bungalow was absolutely beautiful and the view was to die for - both from the restaurant and from the bungalow! it's located in a lovely part of the island, not far from Ao Leuk and some very nice beaches and snorkeling. The food was great, and Steve-o and staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The restaurant area has a very nice relaxed feeling - how could you not feel relaxed with that amazing view?! We went to Sairee one night to have a few drinks and had no problem getting there or back by taxi. If you're looking for a beautiful and relaxing retreat, then I'd highly recommend staying here!

The manger in charge of this establishment is extremely unprofessional and clearly incompetent of running a business.

My boyfriend and myself are currently travelling around Thailand for 5 weeks and have enjoyed every single second apart from our interaction with Sea View Resort. We only booked Sea View Resort as we extended our stay in Koh Tao and unfortunately couldn't stay in our original hotel due to them being full too capacity.

Upon arrival it was obvious that this place was poorly run due to the filthy reception area, the number of stressed and unhappy looking tourists and the fact we wasn't even acknowledged for a good 20 minutes upon arrival.

After 20minutes I spoke too the French women on reception and explained that I had made a reservation with Agoda. To which she replied sorry we NO longer deal with Agoda we've had this problem for a MONTH!

After a long in depth STRESS FREE conservation for 30minutes this situation was not resolved what so ever and a number of people not just ourselves were left without any accommodation (I dread too think how many people over the course of a month this has happened too).

I demanded too speak to the manager however he had swanned off diving for the day and wasn't allowed to be contacted by phone. Due to the manager been busy at the time with his extra curricular activities we was promised that he would meet us at 7pm for a meeting. We waited for an hour of course he never turned up! Luckily my boyfriend managed to arrange accommodation with a another hotel with NO help from SEA VIEW RESORT.

Please what ever you do avoid this place like the plague. It's a disgrace!

We Initially planned to spend 2 days here but ended up staying 2 1/2 weeks at Seaview Resort during July 2014. We had a terrific time, especially because of our friendly neighbors and the new manager Steveo. We also adored the snorkeling. on the 2 nearby beaches.

Location
It is in a relatively remote locations (not walking distance to a beach) set next to a road (mediums sized) in the forest. The view is beautiful. The place is perfect if you hire a car or moped.
It is sometimes very quiet and then loud again from bull frogs quacking or mopeds driving past. With a moped you can easily get to the two best beaches on the Island very easily

Rooms
Very basic bungalows with a simple bathroom. Some have beautiful views, others hammocks and others a bathtub. The rooms are mostly clean but since they are not complete closed off to nature you will occasionally have gecko poo and insects in your room.
The beds are comfortable and big with a mosquito net.

Restaurant
The restaurant is pretty good and can keep up with the other places on the island. It is also a nice place to hang in the evening watch a movie, play a board game, eat and have a chat with fellow travelers. There are a lot of options for food, maybe too much, as sometimes they didn't have what we wanted. A smaller set of options, and/or a new menu would help.

Service
Everyone is very friendly. Service still needs to improve and the new management is working on that. The rooms need to be cleaned a bit more often and thoroughly because animals can get in. Food was sometimes different form what I ordered.

We were made to feel very welcome, and really didn't want to leave. We had a great time, and Steveo and the team really looked after us. The place is probably 4 stars, but the overall experience bumped it up to 5! We would definitely recommend it, and we hope to go back soon.

Room Tip: You can hear the street noise during the day and animals at night, no matter what room. Top bungalow...

We've been travelling since January staying mostly in budget hotels so we don't expect much but this was by far the worst nightmare ever! We chose the standard room with fan (a very little old one) the bathroom had no door and no flush (seriously at this day and age for a so called 3 star hotel??). The manager Stevo was friendly at first but it was quite uncomfortable "interrupting" him to make our order at the restaurant while he was busy watching movies or playing chess with his friends. On the plus side the food was nice. Also, on our last night we had a power failure for hours and when reported to Stevo the next day he didn't even apologise, just said very casually "we had electricity here at the reception because it's another circuit". All said you'd be better off staying elsewhere!
