“Great value for your money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2014

We stayed 3 nights here, and were very pleased at what we found for the money. The rooms were large, quiet, and comfortable. We found the breakfasts to be OK, but the wait staff was not friendly and seemed short-tempered, so we went other places for our lunches and dinners. The desk staff were very friendly and helpful.

The swimming pool was great, clean, with lots of comfortable seating around it. The airconditioning in the rooms was very efficient, as was the lighting.

We were a party of 5 adults, don't know how suitable this would be for families with small children. I would definately stay here again.

Room Tip: The rooms in the section closest to the street overlooked the lush garden and pool. We were on the...

Great location, rooms very spacious. Construction work is currently going on next door and we were disturbed early a couple of mornings but hotel staff spoke to the builders and requested a later start. Reception staff extremely helpful, knowledgeable and honest. Breakfast ok, nothing to get excited about. Kettles are available for the room on request at a nominal charge of 150 baht. Would definitely go back.

We've stayed on Koh Tao for a week, looked this place up on the TA, the reviews were flattering so was the price and a breakfast included deal.

The staff are very welcoming, the rooms are full of natural light, very clean and cozy.

The location in 5 mins. walk from the beach, 2 mins from the main promenade.

The food is quite good for the price we paid, you can always order something for extra.

The service is exemplary at the bar/dining hall as well.

By the entrance of the resort there is a massage lady, named Yuma, she's very old but she gave us the BEST massage we had in all Thailand.

Definitely a place to come back to....

I was very happy with my choice. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The location was right in the heart of sairee, close to the beach. Breakfast was fine. Swimming pool was very nice. The room was quiet. There was o tea/coffee facilities which was annoying. Staff were very friendly and helpful. This is not a review for the dive centre as I had a bad experience there.

I stayed 5 nights in a standard boutique room.

The location of Simple Life Resort is very good. Across from the main walking streets and about a few minutes walk away from Sairee beach. I hadn't been to Koh Tao before and did find the area we were staying very busy. There are lots of bars and restaurants full of western travellers. There are loads of 'happy hour" bars and buckets sold! So be aware! The main pier is about a 15min taxi ride away and cost about 400bht but that can be spilt between 4.

The room we stayed in was very large and had a massive bed! The room had a/c, a TV, fridge and sofa. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was also clean and had a warm shower. We did get a awful smell from the bathroom every now and again but it went away quickly and was nothing that effected our stay.

The room had temperamental WIFI, but like the receptionist said, as we booked in, we were staying on an island so the WIFI isn't the best anywhere!

The rate of the room included breakfast. Which we thought was good. You get a cooked breakfast and can choose how you have your eggs and there is also a buffet of fruits, pancakes and Thai food to help yourself too.

Staff were always helpful and friendly and spoke excellent English.

We found Koh Tao's accommodation to be expensive but for £45 per night, I thought Simple Life Resort offers reasonable value for money.

The room was nice, very clean, and a nice comfy bed.

Location - Sairee Beach is a buzzing area for nightlife (buckets of cocktails, dance music, etc), and if we'd known, we would have stayed in Mae Haad (more peaceful), as it would have suited us better. Certainly worth doing the research first to see if it's to your taste.

We were put in room S1, next door to the restaurant (not owned by Simple Life resort but used as the basis for breakfast). During the night, the kitchen extractor fans next to our room kept switching on and off until 4am, which didn't give either of us a good nights' sleep, even with ear plugs... after our 2nd night (of 5), we explained our problem. I firstly asked if they knew what it was, and whether it could be switched off - they said they had trouble communicating with the staff at the restaurant, and seemed unwilling to get them to do anything about it. I spoke to the restaurant manager myself, who was quite rude and blunt, and told me 'it shouldn't run after 10:30pm', but it still did. Very frustrating. We then asked to move rooms. The staff said the hotel was fully booked that night so we couldn't. The staff were generally easy going, although not entirely sure they appreciated our difficulties and chose to talk at us before hearing us explain our problem. When we asked for recommendation for another hotel, the staff suddenly found a room for us to change to! Our new room was 2 doors down (S3), where the extractor fans were still audible, but bearable, and a new arrival were put in S1 (poor guys!). I noticed our breakfast tickets had already had room S3 changed to S1 in pen, so it looks like we weren't the first to complain... I'm pretty sure this problem is ongoing. The staff certainly didn't seem willing to get the restaurant to do anything about it. I'm writing this so people are aware, and I can certainly say AVOID rooms S1-S4 if possible! It ruined the first few days of Koh Tao for us.

The cooked breakfast was pretty awful, but the rest isn't bad. Avoid the tea, sitting in the filter coffee pot - worst tea I've ever had.

The laundry service was quick, cheap and good. We didn't use the pool but it looked nice!

Room Tip: AVOID rooms S1-S4 if possible! Noise from the nearby kitchen extractor fan keeps even the deepest sl...
