“Cute little beach resort with a variety of affordable rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2014

We stayed in Palm Leaf for 2 nights on our travels, but I could have stayed here much longer. They have a variety of rooms available from budget beach huts to water front villas. The resort itself is fairly basic in terms of services but the rooms were lovely, it was right on the beach and only a short walk on the beach to the main part of town. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, breakfast was fairly basic but still nice and the views from the breakfast restaurant were absolutely stunning. Would definitely recommend to people and will return one day. Thanks guys for a lovely stay.

My wife and two kids (6 and 7 years) had a week at this idyllic end of Sairee beach and it was great. The proximity to a lovely beach on the quiet north end was exactly what we were looking for with its own little reef and some nice snorkeling and was gentle and shallow (as long as too many boats weren't buzzing past). The town is a bit noisy with 20ish types raging into the wee hours but only a nice 5 minute walk along the beach. The staff and front desk were helpful and smiling and the restaurant on the beach was nice with enough offerings to keep my kids fed and happy, as they tired of Thai food quickly. Many Thanks to Sam (Nyo) who looked after the restaurant and his kindness to my children and considerate suggestions about Koh Tao. We had a Villa deluxe with air con and 25 meters to the beach. Worth every baht. The only suggestion i have is that they eliminate the long tail boats that park in front of this section of beach which churn up a lot of sand in the water and are destroying the section of reef that they do have. Get some regulations Koh Tao and save this for your future! So glad we didn't stay in town.

Room Tip: In Villa #101 we had a King bed and they added a double for the kids and the room was not cramped.

We are a family of four from Canada, with two boys ages 12 and 14, and we are seasoned travellers. We loved this resort. We had one of the beachfront cabins, less than 20 meters from the water. The resort is at the quiet end of the beach (which suited us nicely) but only a short walk into the village. Staff were friendly and courteous. Breakfast was included in our package and had nice variety. We visited in March 2014, and opting for a bungalow with air conditioning was a good decision. Lot's of great places to eat along the beach or in the village. We were in Koh Tao for the diving and relaxation and could not have had a better experience.

Room Tip: For our family, the beach front bungalow was perfect, although the other bungalows would be fine as...

I found this hotel totally OK. We had a Villa Deluxe about 30m from the beach, with 2 terrasses. It is on the north of the Sairee beach: good location because it is more quiet (we don't here anything from the music and bars) but be aware you'll have to walk ~10min to the center.

If you book via booking.com the breakfast is not included.

I found it was a good hotel, but still bit expensive for what it is.

I'd read really mixed reviews before booking Palm Leaf - I was confused as Palm Leaf had generally ok/good reviews whereas the sister resort Bow Thong (which is literally next door) had Terrible reviews.
The resort I found actually pricey for what it was - and when we got to our bungalow I was slightly disappointed - one tiny cupboard (with 4 hangers) was the only space we had for clothes which was not ideal, and the room itself was quite small.
HOWEVER, all this aside, what you pay for with this resort is location. We were down one end of Sairee beach, less than 10 mins walk along the beach to sairee village with all the beach bars, fire shows etc but that 10 mins took us right away from the noise. We were 30 seconds from the beach and could see the sea from the bungalow. So we basically slept pretty much on the beach, we had breakfast literally on the beach...it was a little paradise for us.
The staff were generally really unfriendly...we only stayed around the resort for breakfast and made it our mission over the week that we were there to engage perhaps a smile from one of the staff at breakfast (we failed!). However there was one girl, Fon, on reception who was so helpful and pleasant, we rented her moped for a few days from her and felt 100% safe as to not being ripped off as so many people are.
So really, if you are after location but don't mind a slightly shoddy service (oh, when I booked the room they managed to double charge me which took a couple of weeks for them to refund...and when we got to koh tao we were met at the ferry but then had to wait a further 35 minutes for a taxi to come and pick us all up?!) then I would recommend it. Put it this way, when we were there we looked at other places to stay for when we return hopefully next year but decided that we will come back here....we found the location that perfect.

We arrived on Koh Tao with nowhere booked, after riding around all afternoon looking for somewhere to stay we came across this place. they didn't have any rooms until the next day but being as we were out all night it didn't matter. The manager was extremely friendly, and gave us beach beads and mattresses to sleep on if we needed, the wifi password and keys to the restaurant toilet and shower. This is meant to be a family/couples resort so they were apprehensive when 10 young lads turned up but we were respectful and they provided excellent service. One downside, DO NOT eat at the restaurant!!!!

Would recommend this hotel to anyone. We arrived having booked the smallest rooms but they offered us an upgrade for 500b a night which we took as the room had a view of the sea. The sunset from our balcony was amazing. Its a nice quiet location on Sairee Beach only a 5 min walk down the beach to the centre. The food is cheap & good. Service was very friendly. Room was spacious & very clean.
