“The sort of place that makes you feel itchy.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013 via mobile

Avoid, the worst place we've stayed in Thailand. I don't mind roughing it if I'm not paying much. However, for 1000 baht a night this was terrible and it is surely a greedy owner who overcharges but doesn't provide the service. The bad:

- we arrived and our bed was slept in/dirty/ bin full/ thousands of ants everywhere/ people's stuff in the shower. We had to go and buy insect killer and fumigate the room.
- freezing showers
- on reception they say they will clean your room if you ask. We asked because of the ant problem. Lady said fine. Came back 8 hours later to find it still insect ridden/dirty and had to argue with the same lady on reception to get it cleaned - apparently they only clean every three days despite the sign on the door saying 'ask at reception when you want your room cleaned'
- it's not even cheap!!! We could even think 'at least it's good value'.

On the first night, we had to stay in the basement room which was alright, but I wanted to move the next day because I didn't want to stay in the basement. But, they offered us the ground room and we stayed another 3 nights. The rooms were (hired 2 rooms) big enough with simple facilities and tidy. Cold shower and fan. Sometimes, during the day, the electricity was off and it was so hot. During our stay,I had to stay one whole day due to terrible stomach bug and it was sometimes so hot, but was not too bad.

One thing that I loved was the washing service. It was very cheap and all the washing was done and the clothes were folded nicely!! What a refreshing feeling!

We could have stayed there longer, but in the end we moved toward beach side.

This place is situated in a very convenient place withe lots of small shops and restaurants. Very short walk from the port/marina(?). On the way there, there is "Rose pharmacy". The pharmacist there is friendly and speaks English. In case you get sick, I recommend you to go to her.

One funny story finding this accommodation was when we arrived at Koh tao at night. A taxi driver was going to rip us off. He wanted to charge us 200 baht. Later we found that cars can't even go to the street as it is very narrow. He probably was going to go around and drop off us at the other end of the street where we have to walk anyway to get to this accommodation. No need to get a taxi from the port. It is very close! Probably less than 5 min walk.

Pleasant, affordable, handy. Nice greens around the rooms. That makes you feel peaceful.

We stayed here as part of our booking at Planet Scuba so it was paid for as part of package and so not sure about price/value. We liked having our own independent accommodation which meant less noise. Bungalow was a twin room with a spacious bathroom/shower. We had a nice veranda outside to sit on and plenty of room for drying clothes and beach gear. Down the road from the ferry terminal, near the end of the beach so fairly quiet except for sound from one of the beach bars but this shuts relatively early. It was quite hot in our room despite fan on full blast. There is food available but not many people were eating there. Had breakfast one morning and it was lovely, just fruit, muesli and yoghurt. Staff very friendly. Wifi at reception but didn't reach our bungalow so got eaten by mossies when Skyping in evening.

Room Tip: Get one close to reception in the hopes of wifi reaching and if you have problems sleeping due to he...

Good: cheap, laundry service, reliable wifi

Bad: long way from Sairee, noisy, not the cleanest.

Definitely better places to stay in Koh Tao such as Koh Tao central hostel or even better: Do your open water at Crystal Dive Resort.

The room was bare but big and spacious although there was mould on the walls and no head rest. We slept in our mosquito net bathroom was small dirty with shower over the toilet no flush either. The staff just showed us the room after that we didn't see them checked out after one night . Basic but over priced

We stayed there in the chepest room, 250 B for the two of us and since the islands are much more expencive than the rest of thailand, you don't get much for that money. It was pretty much a hole in the ground with a cold shower but we new that before we decided to stay there. The location was the good part, it's by the pier that master divers oparates from, the ferry arrives to and where the locals run there buissness. Koh Tao is always very touristy but this part wasn't nearly as bad as on the other side of the hill. If you really are on a budget trip, I recomend it.

Walked off the catamaran and took a right at the end of the pier, this was the first place we hit and was 500 baht for a bungalow. No air con just a fan but although hot in the day was actually cold at night! Wed only been given one small blanket between us and 1 towel but wasn't a big deal as only 1 nights stay and we knew what we were getting. Lots of signage about luggage gangs and taking your valuables with you. What you see is what you get! Good location right near a quiet beach
