“What do people want for 400-600 baht a night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2012 via mobile

Although Mr J's bungalows is very basic,I found it a great place to stay.Just meters from the beach this is a propa backpackers haven.I had an aircon room7d on the steps down to the beach for 600baht a night.its worth noting that if you expect clean sheets and towels every day this is not for you, however if you take your towels to the cleaners desk by the seating area next to the shop they will take your old towel and give you a fresh one. Also if you ask the cleaners to visit your room and change sheets and clean they will be more than happy to.Mr wim runs the shop and after a couple of days I really enjoyed his company, you can go to him for anything from money to help and advise, you can even take anything to the shop like clothes or old travel guides and swap it for discounted goods. There is a lot of bizarre sighnage around the seating area about reincarnation, some may be offensive to ppl but I have to say I only felt peace & love from Mr J,Mr Wim and the staff there, all in all if your on a buget and are looking for somewhere to meet groovy ppl from around the world pls try Mr J's...P.S sorry about the spelling but im writing this on my phone after drinkink 3 big chang beers,if you go tell them Mr Chris sent you...peace and love x

Stayed here for about 10 nights as it was cheap and close to where were doing our scuba diving courses. Bungalow was clean and simple, fan and cold water with bucket flush toilet. 3 adults in the triple bungalow was cosy but adequate. Not hard to get transport over to the main beach if you want to check that out but we found plenty of little restaurants with great food and all of the services we needed close by. Overall I would stay here again, for the price you can't expect to be staying in luxury :-)

Alright so Save Bungalows was my first place to stay at in koh tao and they just DONT offer good the room you would expect from the price. Cheapest rooms are 500BHT a night and there are so many cheaper or better places to stay nearby. The rooms have a Fan and cold water, thats all. Rooms were clean but not the cleanest. I can strongly reccommend Ananande Resort nearby, but Keng bungalows are even closer by and offer the same things but for almost half the price.
Save Bungalows is located at the calmer end of Mea Had town and is just a minut away from the beach and most of the shops.
But i prefer to walk two minutes for half the price (Keng Bungalows).

Room Tip: Get the ones closest to the beach cause the ones uphill are near one of Koh Tao Bussier roads.

We stayed as a couple for 5 nights in one of the bungalows, with a.c. for £14 a night. We did not book before hand. It is in a good location about one hundred yards from the beach.,and small town.
The rooms are basic but fine, with double bed,t.v and fridge. BUt nothing to complain about. There were a few ants in the bathroom, but to be expected from a wooden bungalo.
Would stay here again if we returned.

These bungalows are located at the southern end of the town and the main beach is about 10 minutes walking. The accomodation is good, clean with a nice bathroom. The bungalows have a porch with a small table and chairs. Staff was very friendly. For Koh Tao, very good price for a very good place to stay,..

We got this room as part of a package but left after one night. When a room is cheap it doesn't have to be disgusting. Yea these rooms are very cheap but simple things can be done to make a cheap room nice. For starters clean sheets. Ours stank. When we asked for clean ones the owner looked at us like we had spat in his coffee.
Ok so the Thai plumbing can't handle toilet paper but at least clean the stains from the bin you have to put it in.
Clean towels that's easy but we got one dirty one. A nice duvet doesn't cost much. We got a blanket big enough for one that has a big stain on it.
The tv fan and air con were all good but id have traded them all for a room that I could actually sleep in.

The woman who works in the shop is nice. But she doesn't speak much English so it made things difficult.

Pay the extra 500 baht and stay at the ananda hotel at the other and of the street. That's what we did and its a different world.
