We had 3 weeks away trying to do the backpacking thing but also wanted a romantic relaxing holiday so we did the back packing up North and then made our way to the islands for some pampering. We were on a tight budget so I was trying to book the best luxury holiday room for £20 (never gonna happen I know!) so fell in love withTHe viewpoint on the internet. Just returned.. the views were AMAZING and the balcony of the cabin was lovely BUT the the arty cabin has not been looked after, needed some TLC... there was one 20 watt bulb to light up the whole room and we could not see a thing!!! The flashy black tiled bathroom...lovely but again they had tried to be really arty by putting the light BEHIND a pillar??? again could not see a thing! Service was bad. I relaly didn't think I would have minded that the room wasn't cleaned daily BUT it did start to gratye at me, sand gets everywhere. Food is well priced and nice enough. The major sore point apart from having to use a tourch to get around the roomat night was that it is not sign posted from the main beach where the taxi dropped us off. They don't warn you of this and when you're boiling hot and desperate to chill out after back packing...you have to walk along a wooden platform along the coast line (very secluded!) literally through a restaurant at one point (have to take off your shoes and everythin!) then over little beaches with broken glass and rubbish strewn everywhere etc...I would have cleaned them up if I was the hotel. No welcome when we got there, just a grunt and showed us to the room. They could have asked us how our trip was... or even smiled!! Got so annoyed by the trek to get anywhere and the dark room that we booked ourselves into the Koh Tao resort where for the same money we were in the cheapest room of the hotel but it was LOVELY! We couldn't believe our lkuck when they said the price of the room. Breakfast was included, Infinity pool overlooking the beach, cocktails by the pool, food was good, room cleaned every day! Free water in rooms..really good, would def recommend Koh Tao resort (although I did miss the balcony of the viewpoint!!) If your after a luxurious Thai holiday but on a shoe string budget then go there.
