“Shabby and rundown. Very Basic.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2013

Terrible place to stay. the staff are unfriendly and not very happy i felt like i was not welcome there. 2 extremes in this case beautiful place but the accommodation was shabby and poor quality good for backpacking not cheap enough though.

Very basic. The bathroom was disgusting with stains up the wall, no safe in the room and nothing more than a bed wouldn't recommend more than 1 night.

All round the rooms were basic i would say this is a 2 star and if it was advertised at £20 you wouldn't be so disappointed. Not the kind of place to stay if you want to be romantic.

Did not have our reservation when we got there but they checked us in quickly and without fuss but would have preferred that. If there had been an issue we might have gone elsewhere and actually enjoyed ourselves.
There rooms were terrible. I was not after anything fancy but the beds were like rocks and were made even harder by sitting on raised slabs of concrete. The shower head barely worked and sprayed water everywhere while the drain was a hole in the wall.
The only good thing is the location: a short walk into the main part of the village but far enough away that it isn't too noisy. But will not stay here again.

The services provided at the restaurant for buffet lunch were simply too poor. It left a bad taste in my mouth as well as other tourists whom had shared the similar feedback to me.

Avoid eating at the restaurant if possible. We were really shocked by this kind of services provided.

Choosing a hotel in Koh Phi Phi is very difficult and this hotel is evidence of that. The agents try to sell what they have, the good hotel are fully booked months ahead and the ambience of the island makes the accommodation not a priority for most of the travelers. Simply a bad combination.

The rooms were not very nit but acceptable to spend a night. Two small beds, AC working, Toilet decent. The area around the bungalows was smelly and the noisy factor is big. But for us it was just a place to crash for a few hours.

I would not choose it again for sure. But the couples out there looking for a nice place to stay in Phi Phi please do you homework before going or avoid going to this island. Its a party place and for most of the people, the only interest is the price of the drinks and not the accommodation. Clearly.

And the pictures don't look not even close for what it looks like. Really good work by the photographer.

Room Tip: Try to get rooms closer to the reception if you really want to stay here. The back bungalows has a l...

We stayed at the Don Chukit as all other hotels on the island were fully booked (we didn't realise that February would be so busy). This hotel was offered to us as an alternative by Hotels ATM (please don't trust booking agents and book an alternative hotel without checking the reviews like we did) and it ruined our stay on at Phi Phi. When we arrived at the hotel it didn't look so bad (although it didn't look as nice as it did in the pictures we had seen). We got to our rooms and were very disappointed as they were very dark and dingy and we booked the best rooms in the deluxe building (that's a joke - there is no deluxe at Don Chukit) for approximately £65 per night. My sister was in the room next door and she asked to be moved straight away as she had a hole in her bathroom ceiling and it looked as if the ceiling was about to cave in. We actually walked around the island to see if we could book into another hotel as we didn't want to stay there for 4 nights - unfortunately everything was booked so we had no choice.

The hotel is very worn and smells disgusting. The rooms were very basic - they were worse than guest houses that we had stayed in while in Phuket and Bangkok. There were dead mosquitos splattered on the tiles in the bathroom (which looked like they had been there for a while showing that the rooms were not cleaned very well). There was rust around the bathroom mirror and the corner had started to come away and there was a hole in the floor behind our toilet. There was a shower in the bathroom which directly faced the toilet.

The swimming pool (if you can call it that) was green and looked like a pond rather than a pool, you couldn't even see through the water as it was so dirty. There were broken drain covers around the hotel from which the smell of sewer was pouring out around the hotel. There was rubbish piled up so high and was not even fenced off. There were holes in the floors, electric wires not covered properly and holes where there should have been lights and ceilings of buildings hanging down. There were also dirty plates etc stacked up around the restaurant area.

There were no safety deposit boxes in the rooms (as advertised) - they had a few behind the reception desk. The wifi never worked. When you complain to them or ask them questions their English suddenly isn't too great.

I woke up one morning to 2 massive cockroaches in my bathroom - that did it for me - I was out of there. We moved to Railay Beach a day early!

I wouldn't complain if I had paid £10 a night for this hotel but would not pay a penny more. I would never go back and would urge you to read this review before booking this hotel.

I complained to the hotel company when I got back as they were supposed to offer me an alternative to what I had booked. They were no help and offered me no assistance - beware of booking with Hotels ATM too.

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms are supposed to be the best rooms - they are very basic and are like rooms in guest hou...

We stayed here in a bungalow only because everywhere else was booked.

Absolutely horrible. We would have been better off sleeping on the beach.

Bathroom is so run down and filthy you feel dirtier after having had a shower (we showered in thongs). There are holes in the walls and ceiling and no windows so its very smelly and stuffy and always filled with bugs, ants and mosquitoes.

Bed sheets were not changed during our stay, despite having requested them to several times. Curtains were covered in mould. Basically the whole place was completely putrid.

Then there is the staff... They basically ignore your existence at every available opportunity. If, and I mean IF, you manage to get them to acknowledge that you're there they are all so rude and unhelpful it's not funny.

Biggest mistake of our holiday
