“Relaxed Beach Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

Piece of paradise and very relaxing. Stayed in the beach front bungalows for two nights with great views only metres away from the water. This is a quite resort which is only accessible by long tail boat. The staff were very friendly and the food was great and reasonably priced for the location.
Great for anybody who would like some relaxing down time. The resort offers day trips to other island and again priced well. There is only generated power in the bungalows from 6pm to 6am but you don't even notice during the day that there's no power. Only cold water for showers, but because it's warm it's ok.Great to sit up at the bar for some cocktails or laze in the many hammocks around the island. Staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Stay in the Beach Front Bungalows

This is an awful accommodation and a complete money trap. Which is sad because the beach is nice and the view is great. But the manager took this potential and ruined it. The bungalows don't need to be chalets but why keep a half meter gap between the ceiling and wall so anything that wants to can crawl in? There is no door between the bathroom so basically we were killing crawling things throughout our entire stay. No hot water (ever), and no electricity between 6am-6pm, which sounds charming until you realize it's dark and you're stuck in your room until the lights come on.

The restaurant was barely passable. Service was extremely slow, by the second day I was getting the menu myself and placing my own orders. The food was the worst we had in Thailand, it was like bad Thai food in Europe. And because you're so cut off from everything they feel justified in charging you for absolutely everything. With breakfast not included and the atrociously rude service from the owner when we complained about the filthy sheets, this place is nothing but a scam or tourist trap for people who are unable to find accommodation elsewhere.

Save your money and your composure and stay somewhere else!

After reading many great reviews about this resort, we were excited to spend new year there and booked in for 3 days. This was simply handed the worst decision we have made during our trip in Thailand.
The bungalows are dirty, dark and inhabited by numerous animals including dozen of huge cockroaches, spiders and other insect.
Entertainment around this hotel is basically none, even the beach is one of the worse we seen in Thailand.
Friendliness of staff,we have noticed, raises exponentially depending on how many people are you travelling with (= how much money you spend). We were a couple and we have got totally no attention and even rude behavior, same as other couples we talked to, while families of 4-5 people got some smile and "Is everything ok?" question.
The resort is basically run by a big family. Anyone does everything from boat riding, cleaning, reception, cooking etc. First day our toiled got blocked (not our fault), so one guy went up to our room with plunger and to my surprise just minutes later I saw him in kitchen making omelets.

Cons:
- Totally remote. This might be pro for someone, but trust me this is totally remote. You cannot get anything else then they have in the restaurant, so if you get craving for something too bad. There is one shop in the resort that has ONLY bags of chips.

- The Shuttle. The shuttle runs only 3 times to the resort and 2 times from the resort a day. On top of that its being driven by some crazy captain (I suspect any random staff that has time) which makes the ride really memorable and at the end of it you will be totally soaked.

- The restaurant. Food is twice as expensive as in main PhiPhi village and 3 times as disgusting. We have both gotten food poisoning from which we are still recovering.

- The staff. There is not much more I can say. The staff is very very unfriendly, unattentive and rude. They refuse to change anything in the hut, help to fight off cockroaches, or even give a menu in the restaurant. It is a mystery to me, how this resort can still work with staff like that.

- Many, Many, Many more things. Basically everything from the shuttle, staff, restaurant, bungalow to the day trips etc was a big minus for us. Nothing in this resort made us happy, and we were extremely relieved to leave.

Pros:
- Every bungalow has a very comfortable porch.

Now about the new years party.
When booking our stay we were FORCED to pay extra 2500 baht per person (!) for a New Years gala organized by the resort. It is hard to start explaining how bad this "gala" has been. The gala starts at 6:30pm and lasts only until 9pm. This time is filled with eating from buffet (which was ok until you realise you have been food poisoned), performances and probably the worst MC of all times.
The performances during the gala were made by whom else then the staff themselves, so basically you get an awkward dancing or at least some movement on the stage from amateurs with terrible, terrible music that wants you to kill yourself.
In between the performances they have a MC who barely speaks english and basically just saying "Ok, good, everybody happy, and next we have.... next show". The killer for me was when he started to talk about politics...

After 9pm, all "entertainment" finishes and gala moves to the dance floor that is about 4m square. By this time all staff are already totally wasted, so on the dance floor you have few teenagers and backpackers and all wasted staff jumping around. Not only they are having their own party, but also work at the same time. The result was that a barman was asked for a cocktail, first he couldn't keep balance and trashed half of the bar, then somehow mixed the cocktail, then DRANK HALF OF IT, and gave it to the guest.

At the end of the night, the countdown happened, Maybe you would expect that they give everyone glass of champagne, but of course nothing like that, and after midnight, all staff packs up all left food and head back to their homes. By 1am everything is dead.

Needles to say, this resort was the worst experience, not only from Thailand but from the whole southeast asia we have travelled to.

Room Tip: There is no running away from insect and darkness in any room...

This płace is perfect of you are looking for quiet resort with private beach and relaxation. Not much to do around- except regular beach activities or snooze in a hammock while listening to wives crashing around. For me- perfect for 3 days, got bit bored after.

Wanted relaxation at a busy time of year and got it! Absolutely fell in love with this rustique, secluded piece of paradise on busy and too touristic Phi Phi.
Everyone at Phi Phi Relax made my stay a "memorable" one! Christmas Eve party and buffet were great and everyone went above and beyond to make certain the guests were having a great time and celebration. Thank you! You did an amazing job!

Room Tip: I was in a garden bungalow. Again, it is a very rustique place, no frills, but clean and full of cha...

My wife and I stayed at this resort as part of a long honeymoon through Thailand. We were looking for something isolated with a sense of adventure while we were on Koh Phi Phi and this fit the bill. We wanted to be able to get away from the noise of Ton Sai village and stay somewhere eco-friendly and simple. If you stay here with that mindset, you will love the place. We only stayed here for 4 days, and that was the perfect length of time. While the electricity is off during the day, they have full power and even WIFI from 6pm-6am.

Having to get to the resort by boat was exciting for us and added to the magic of this place. We only wanted to visit Ton Sai village one day, so we did the hike via the overlook (takes about an hour), which was not very difficult. However, if you are looking to see/do things daily in the village, I could see how hiking/taking the boat from the resort could become a pain. Another pain of this place is having to eat at the resort restaurant for every meal. The food is good, but this really limits your options.

The amazing (albeit small) beach is the best part of the resort and the snorkeling in front of the resort is great. We rented out one of the longboats with a driver for an entire day to take us to Maya Bay and the lagoon on Phi Phi Leh. This was very worthwhile and our boat driver was very friendly, and lunch was brought for us. I highly recommend doing this while you stay here.

Bottom line: If you are looking for the Marriott experience, you will be severely disappointed. If you are looking for a place that feels detached from the world and you don't mind falling asleep to the sea breeze instead of A/C, you'll have a good time here.

We stayed at Phi Phi Relax Beach for 4 nights in mid December. We were looking for a place to unwind away from the crowds but were disappointed with the overall experience, this was the worst of the 4 places we stayed in Thailand and it was the most expensive.

Positives: Good location for relaxing. The food was good but unfortunately overpriced. The Thai staff were very friendly and helpful during our stay.

Negatives: The rooms were not clean, we got attacked by mosquitoes and bedbugs, it looked like I had lepresy the next day. You had to pay for everything on the resort, I thought some of the things could have been included considering the rates. It just feels like the resort is money driven and it is a shame that more bungalows are being built. The small beach is going to get overcrowded and the appeal that this resort has going for it will be lost. I would not recommend staying for longer than 3 nights and the beds and linen needs to be replaced. Overall I was disappointed with the experience, for the price their is better value elsewhere. I think the owners need to look at what they are offering for the price otherwise other travellers will share my sentiments.
