“Okay, but there are better for the money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2011

We took 3 rooms for 2 nights this month. On checking in we requested quiet rooms at the far end of the resort away from the beach bars and the manager kindly did this for us. We were thankful for that as I do not know how anybody could sleep before 3 - 4am if you were on the town side of the resort. Our rooms were okay. One room was very good and had been recently renovated and other than a little mould in the bathroom it was up to our expectations. Our adult children's room were not quite so good and they were not over happy with them. The rooms were spacious with great views and ours was well appointed. The pool is huge and great although you basically have to go inside and wake up the pool bar attendant if you want a drink as he was not keen on walking around to check if guests wanted anything. The breakfast was very good. Buffet style with most things you could wish for. It is a very expensive hotel for its age and because of that I would probably look elsewhere on our return (5th stay at Phi Phi) as there are equal resorts/hotels at a considerably lower price on the island.

Positives: This hotel has a lovely pool, we were always able to get sunbeds. The views from the sunbeds over to Loh Dalum beach were breathtaking. The beach & sea are 1 metre from the pool. Our room (2305) had the best view of the bay, we were gobsmacked when we first walked in there. We'd sit on the balcony in the evening with a Chang, mesmerised by the view!

Other comments: the hotel is so big there seems so much empty space. Breakfast was good, fine. We didn't use the restaurant for lunch, we ate at some beach cafes.

Phi Phi itself: we fell in love with Phi Phi, it really is so beautiful! Loved the little town - its like a busy market place. Lots of little walkways. Nice bars were Carlitos, Carpe Diem and Reggae Bar was very cool, thai boxing! We went to the nightclubs on Loh Dalum beach 1 night and that was very fun, dancing in the sand drinking strawberry breezer, awesome!
Did a snorkelling trip to Phi Phi Leh with Adventure Club, our guide took some great underwater photos. Saw a turtle! Yay!
Didn't want to leave Phi Phi - could have stayed for another few weeks! Its the atmosphere, everything feels so free & peaceful!

Negatives: even though we went to the clubs on the beach 1 night, all the other nights from our room we could here the music pumping. We're in our early thirties so weren't going to bed until 1am, but I can imagine that the niose would get annoying after a while. The music stopped around 1:30am.

We think that hotels on the Tonsai side of the bay are quieter.

**I would still recommend this hotel but only stay here if you go to bed late-ish**

There are probably more luxurious places to stay on Koh Phi Phi Don, but none in the main town where all the action, bars and beaches are. Most are a decent long boat trip away, which will be frustrating if you want a restaurant or a drink in what is essentially a backpacker's paridise.
The hotel itself has had a recent rennovation, as we discovered in our moden, clean room which overlooked the pool and the entire bay. No complaints possible there.
The pool is large enough that even on the busiest of days it's quiet. Not a bad place to enjoy the hotel's diverse menu or their tropical cocktails overlooking the magnificent scenery.
Generally the service in all facets was very good and I have to admit that this isn't the cheapest option on the island but the overall expeprience is worth it.

We have booked this hotel for our Honeymoon (4 nights), reading some good reviews.
All those reviews are absolutely deceiving!
The beach is disgusting, the pool is not clean, the rooms smells bad and there is mold on the walls.
We stayed one night and left the next morning. Fortunately the hotel agreed to cancel our remaining nights, and we booked another hotel.
Be aware! don't believe to rumors....

We got this hotel at 50% off as there was a special on wotif.com . We would not have paid full price otherwise. For the half price rate this hotel was great. Staff were very friendly and helped us with everything. The breakfast was amazing! It had everything you could possibly have for breaky. We had a beach view which was stunning to wake up to everyday. The only problem which is a common problem across Thailand is that there are no clocks! We had to call reception for the time which was really annoying.

We had no problem sleeping, we went to bed early and heard nothing. We had no bug problems or anything like that. I would highly recommend this hotel, but not at the full price. Wait to see if you get a discounted price online.

By the way, the pool is amazing and it is right on the most beautiful part of the beach. So secluded!!!

hotel was in an amazing location, really central and we had an amazing view of the ocean/pool. The pool was lovely, as was the buffet breakfast. We ate at the pool resturant, which was nice, and reasonably priced. The room was fairly nice however the bathroom a bit dated. The service was nice, looked after our bags and helped sort out a tour. I would recommend this hotel and next time I go to Phi Phi would choose to stay here again.
