“Poor value unless you like very rustic, unclean rooms, unfriendly staff and average food”

It's not for everyone, and we're a couple in our early 30s not looking for the cheapest backpacker stay. This place wasn't far off its own description & I'm glad we tried it, but wouldn't go back. Overpriced for what you get, we paid I think $60 for 1 night, even at half that it'd be bad value. To top it all off we were (we think) ripped off by the owner to get a longboat to our next resort which was less than 10 mins away. 800 baht for that journey is ridiculous. Bed was like a slab of concrete, sheets were clean feeling but covered in stains. Not saying they were unwashed, just not properly. We wanted to try the hut on the beach thing but I'm sure there are better and more reasonably priced options out there.

We left Tohko this morning and everything about this place is amazing. The staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. The resort is secluded (only accessible by long tail boat) and just what we needed. Our 4 night stay here was great - I was sad to get on the ferry and leave.

We booked Tohko based on trip advisor reviews as it seemed to be the best compromise between comfort and affordability. Keep in mind that Phi Phi isn't as cheap as most places in Thailand. We were a little bit weary as the reviews we read seemed fairly inconsistent. Our experiences exceeded expectations.

Someone was waiting for us on the dock when we got off the ferry, they were friendly and despite a mix up with them having the wrong name on their booking list, they took us to the resort where we were able to clear things up.

The place is family run, and everyone who works there was very friendly and spoke enough english that we never had trouble communicating.

Snorkeling gear is $1 US per day, so unless you REALLY want to save money, don't bother bringing your own stuff.

Food at the restaurant was cheap by Phi Phi standards, expensive by Thai standards. True, you don't have any other restaurants to choose from, but that's the tradeoff for getting to stay on what is essentially a private beach that only has a handful of other tourists on it.

Speaking of the beach, it's pretty nice. A few hammocks and chairs you don't need to pay for (though they don't recline). They have an employee sweep the beach line every morning to get rid of any debris that washes up.

We stayed in a bamboo beachfront room (hut) and it was wonderfully romantic, though the frame of the building was essentially one giant ant nest. The mosquito net keeps out all the bugs, and while the mattress may not have been the most comfortable one of our trip, it was far from the worst.

It's a bamboo hut on the beach. If that sounds awesome to you, you will love this place. If that sounds like squalor, then I hear there is an Outrigger.

Me and girlfriend stayed here for 4 nights in July 2013 and it was worth every penny! We stayed in the bamboo beach front hut. We were picked up by the hotel long boat (free of charge) from the ferry teminal, on arrival the private beach and huts looked very impressive. I loved the greeting from Leo the Labrador who ran up the beach to greet us with our suitcases, he kept himself to himself unless you offered a stroke then he would be on his back in seconds! The room is back to basics, no aircon and a mosquito net protecting you from the insects of the night. The room was clean and had electricity between 6pm-6am, electronics can be charged daytime in the reception/restaurant area. The sea rolled in under the hut and it was impossible to stay awake laying in the hammock on the porch.
The beach was sandy with loads of very entertaining crabs, we would both watch them at night scurrying around whilst enjoying a cold Chiang. It was slightly disappointing to see the volume of rubbish washed in from the sea every day, this obviously wasnt the hotels fault and I did see a staff member cleaning the beach daily. Snorkelling was good fun, take your own if you can to save paying the hotel hire charges (these arent too dear though).
It is a family run hotel, the female manager was a lovely funny lady who was happy to help with any enquiry to make our stay as enjoyable as it was. The food was tasty and prices reasonable. Very Romantic, your woman will love you getting a room here!!!

I really enjoyed my stay here. After a 22 hour journey from home, all i wanted was a quiet place on the beach with ocean view, great food and beautiful scenery, to read my book and swim in the sea, and have a beer by the sunset. I got all of that, and there's a great coral reef right in front for some good snorkeling as well. Their food is great, lots of choice. Be aware that it is remote, so don't expect any easy visits to the village, unless by longboat. The accommodation is quite basic, but i had a beautiful sea view and a hammock on my veranda. Loved it.

The resort looks idealic, however, the mattresses are are cement blocks and the noise from the long boats on the ocean don't give much for a good nights sleep. The food was great as was the snorkelling. We enjoyed our stay, but won't be back.

I stayed here with my fiancee for three nights in July. Overall it was a good experience, however there are some issues regarding transport to other areas of the island. We stayed in an air-conditioned hillside cabin overlooking the sea on the first night, which was fine, but moved to a fan-only seaview cabin for the last two nights. This worked out cheaper and the accommodation was much better. More charming, I suppose. The staff were helpful and friendly and the beach and views were beautiful. It's a great place to stay if you want to sit on the beach for a few days. The only problems we encountered were associated with transport around the island. The last boat leaves at 5pm and after that you have to pay about 600 baht for a one-way trip to the main town on the island. The return fare is reputedly higher. This would be fine if there were more eating options nearby, however there is only the resort's restaurant, which is just about okay. The food isn't cheap either, so the few days we spent there worked out being surprisingly expensive.
