“Great views & set up that's it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013 via mobile

We stayed in a lovely beach front bungalow. The room was simple and right on the water which was the best thing about our stay. The rooms were clean. The staff were not friendly and they made you feel like a nuisance at all times. Understandably I guess in view of all the drunken & disrespectful full moon party crew that flood the hotel every month. The pool is ok. The restaurant is ok the BBQ is bad don't even bother. The buffet breakfast is a high school cafeteria setting and the food is pretty sad looking but edible. Every evening the restaurant stereo blasts horrible techno with crappy sound quality until the dinner service is done. I would only go there again if desperate for accommodation. Also the wifi is pretty much non existent which was very annoying when we had prepaid nonrefundable 5 days. No wifi in our room either, and cable tv was all fuzzy.

“Would not recommend”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

Stayed over the New Years period for minimum of 5 nights, but left after 3 nights as we couldn't get out of there fast enough. The beach and the room view was beautiful but that was about it.

The pool is small and situated almost as part of the restaurant. The staff unfriendly, the breakfast buffet poor and the New Years Gala dinner a rip off! Over this period the resort mostly caters to younger party travellers so constant loud music. Also a lot of people sitting in a small pool for hours drinking and no doubt peeing. Not a good resort for families or couples.

Room Tip: Not the family rooms beside the pool.....no privacy

“Wouldn't recommend.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013 via mobile

We pre-booked to stay here over Christmas and New Year 2012. On arrival we were pleased to see that the hotel was relatively new and in a nice location. Our hotel room was very clean and spacious with a TV and fridge. Overall first impressions were good. As we booked for the Christmas and New Year period we had to pay 3000Baht ($100) each for a Gala Dinner (minus drinks) for both days. This turned out to be a complete rip off. The standard of food was very poor, processed meats, stir fry vegetables, and a fish dish that ran out quickly. There wasn't enough food for everyone and the drinks were very pricey. $5 for a small glass of wine that tasted awful and $3.50 for a small can of beer. We left after 20 minutes on the Christmas dinner and after seeing the New Year spread we didn't bother staying as it was the same.
For the rest of our stay I have to say we were pleased with the room and location. The breakfast was rubbish though as the spread was very poor and you have to que for at least 10 minutes if you want eggs. The waiting staff are unfriendly and very badly organised. The overall service in the hotel and attitude from the staff was bad enough that we would never go back or recommend. They were very rude and only interested if they were getting money from you. I appreciate its a business looking to make profit but they are blatantly after nothing more.

“Good location by the beach and clean rooms, but the whole experience ruined by money hungry and unfriendly staff!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here for 10 nights over Christmas and New Year as we were meeting up with our friends who were staying in the backpackers next door at shiralea. The hotel has invested recently in new apartment blocks which host very new, clean and bright double/twin en-suite rooms. We were lucky enough to stay in one of these so our bathroom, bed and room were bright, clean and pretty spacious. The hotel is right by the end of the beach so it's a good location on Haad Yao. That's the plus points. Now the negatives. From the second we arrived, the staff almost flashed ££££ in their eyes each time we spoke to them. If the could make money as a result of a conversation they were interested and engaged and if it was a normal query or question they just looked at you then blanked you. Some just walked off mid sentence. I could rhyme off various incidents over the 10 days but I would be here another 10 days doing so, so ill try and keep it brief. The taxi prices were ridiculous and if you asked or questioned the price, ignored. Walk into breakfast in the morning, you get 'WHERE'S YOUR VOUCHER' screamed at you, then once you hand it over, job done. They walk away and ignore you again. No showing to a seat, do you want a drink, can I help... Basically have you paid for the pleasure of breakfast already in your room rate? Yes? Ok go help yourself I'm not interested unless you have money for me. The only vaguely healthy thing to eat was muesli and milk But even muesli was only allowed every other day, alternated with fake cornflakes. I actually asked if i could have a bowl of muesli on the cornflake day (brave i know) and you can guess what the response was...... no and walked off. The compulsory Xmas and New Year's Eve gala dinners included in the room rates were a rip off. 1500bht per meal! So myself and boyfriend paid 3000bht for this on top of our accommodation. I don't think we paid this for a meal in all the time we are in Thailand! No drinks included either. The food was disgusting and half the trays were empty when we got there so they didn't even bother refilling for new arrivals when the food had ran out. One night we actually ate at the restaurant barbecue as it was late and we wanted something quick. My boyfriend ordered beef kebab and I ordered chicken. The steak was just pure grissle so he asked if he could change to chicken as the beef was really poor. Likely braising steak so you couldn't even chew throug it as it was quickly barbecued. No! They insisted he paid for it as he had cut into it?? Which in their eyes meant he'd ate it? He refused out of principle as they were so rude and the food was horrid. Eventually after 45 minutes of ignoring us he went to pay the cheque(minus the steak) and they still refused to take off the amount. It ended with him giving them the exact money minus the steak and walking away. The staff just can't see past ££££ signs, and have no people skills whatsoever. The barbecue was expensive in the first place but unlike other barbecues in Haad Yao beach, or even other places we stayed in Koh Tao, you even have to pay for a baked potatoe or corn or side to go with the meat! Money money money. Another reviewer mentioned below that the restaurant cant accomodate the guests who stay at the hotel when its busy. she is right. most mornings there wasnt enough tables to house the people who had paid for breakfast in their room price. Again just another way for them to make more money upfront and not having to deliver. I would avoid this place out of principle. Rudeness, greed and horrible vibe. Lots of very unhappy guests

“Seaview is amazing!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

There are few steps to the fourth floor but it is worth it! We were there and our room was big and clean and the view was amazing. Staff were helpfull and friendly. Pool was nice and clean. Good value for the money.

Room Tip: Book the room as high as possible!
