“Great views & set up that's it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013 via mobile

We stayed in a lovely beach front bungalow. The room was simple and right on the water which was the best thing about our stay. The rooms were clean. The staff were not friendly and they made you feel like a nuisance at all times. Understandably I guess in view of all the drunken & disrespectful full moon party crew that flood the hotel every month. The pool is ok. The restaurant is ok the BBQ is bad don't even bother. The buffet breakfast is a high school cafeteria setting and the food is pretty sad looking but edible. Every evening the restaurant stereo blasts horrible techno with crappy sound quality until the dinner service is done. I would only go there again if desperate for accommodation. Also the wifi is pretty much non existent which was very annoying when we had prepaid nonrefundable 5 days. No wifi in our room either, and cable tv was all fuzzy.

Stayed over the New Years period for minimum of 5 nights, but left after 3 nights as we couldn't get out of there fast enough. The beach and the room view was beautiful but that was about it.

The pool is small and situated almost as part of the restaurant. The staff unfriendly, the breakfast buffet poor and the New Years Gala dinner a rip off! Over this period the resort mostly caters to younger party travellers so constant loud music. Also a lot of people sitting in a small pool for hours drinking and no doubt peeing. Not a good resort for families or couples.

Room Tip: Not the family rooms beside the pool.....no privacy

We pre-booked to stay here over Christmas and New Year 2012. On arrival we were pleased to see that the hotel was relatively new and in a nice location. Our hotel room was very clean and spacious with a TV and fridge. Overall first impressions were good. As we booked for the Christmas and New Year period we had to pay 3000Baht ($100) each for a Gala Dinner (minus drinks) for both days. This turned out to be a complete rip off. The standard of food was very poor, processed meats, stir fry vegetables, and a fish dish that ran out quickly. There wasn't enough food for everyone and the drinks were very pricey. $5 for a small glass of wine that tasted awful and $3.50 for a small can of beer. We left after 20 minutes on the Christmas dinner and after seeing the New Year spread we didn't bother staying as it was the same.
For the rest of our stay I have to say we were pleased with the room and location. The breakfast was rubbish though as the spread was very poor and you have to que for at least 10 minutes if you want eggs. The waiting staff are unfriendly and very badly organised. The overall service in the hotel and attitude from the staff was bad enough that we would never go back or recommend. They were very rude and only interested if they were getting money from you. I appreciate its a business looking to make profit but they are blatantly after nothing more.

We stayed here for 10 nights over Christmas and New Year as we were meeting up with our friends who were staying in the backpackers next door at shiralea. The hotel has invested recently in new apartment blocks which host very new, clean and bright double/twin en-suite rooms. We were lucky enough to stay in one of these so our bathroom, bed and room were bright, clean and pretty spacious. The hotel is right by the end of the beach so it's a good location on Haad Yao. That's the plus points. Now the negatives. From the second we arrived, the staff almost flashed ££££ in their eyes each time we spoke to them. If the could make money as a result of a conversation they were interested and engaged and if it was a normal query or question they just looked at you then blanked you. Some just walked off mid sentence. I could rhyme off various incidents over the 10 days but I would be here another 10 days doing so, so ill try and keep it brief. The taxi prices were ridiculous and if you asked or questioned the price, ignored. Walk into breakfast in the morning, you get 'WHERE'S YOUR VOUCHER' screamed at you, then once you hand it over, job done. They walk away and ignore you again. No showing to a seat, do you want a drink, can I help... Basically have you paid for the pleasure of breakfast already in your room rate? Yes? Ok go help yourself I'm not interested unless you have money for me. The only vaguely healthy thing to eat was muesli and milk But even muesli was only allowed every other day, alternated with fake cornflakes. I actually asked if i could have a bowl of muesli on the cornflake day (brave i know) and you can guess what the response was...... no and walked off. The compulsory Xmas and New Year's Eve gala dinners included in the room rates were a rip off. 1500bht per meal! So myself and boyfriend paid 3000bht for this on top of our accommodation. I don't think we paid this for a meal in all the time we are in Thailand! No drinks included either. The food was disgusting and half the trays were empty when we got there so they didn't even bother refilling for new arrivals when the food had ran out. One night we actually ate at the restaurant barbecue as it was late and we wanted something quick. My boyfriend ordered beef kebab and I ordered chicken. The steak was just pure grissle so he asked if he could change to chicken as the beef was really poor. Likely braising steak so you couldn't even chew throug it as it was quickly barbecued. No! They insisted he paid for it as he had cut into it?? Which in their eyes meant he'd ate it? He refused out of principle as they were so rude and the food was horrid. Eventually after 45 minutes of ignoring us he went to pay the cheque(minus the steak) and they still refused to take off the amount. It ended with him giving them the exact money minus the steak and walking away. The staff just can't see past ££££ signs, and have no people skills whatsoever. The barbecue was expensive in the first place but unlike other barbecues in Haad Yao beach, or even other places we stayed in Koh Tao, you even have to pay for a baked potatoe or corn or side to go with the meat! Money money money. Another reviewer mentioned below that the restaurant cant accomodate the guests who stay at the hotel when its busy. she is right. most mornings there wasnt enough tables to house the people who had paid for breakfast in their room price. Again just another way for them to make more money upfront and not having to deliver. I would avoid this place out of principle. Rudeness, greed and horrible vibe. Lots of very unhappy guests

There are few steps to the fourth floor but it is worth it! We were there and our room was big and clean and the view was amazing. Staff were helpfull and friendly. Pool was nice and clean. Good value for the money.

Room Tip: Book the room as high as possible!

Was booked to stay in alternative accomodation in Koh Phangan for new year but after many problems had to change accomodation and ended up booking Bayview at Phuket airport with the recommendation from a travel agent there. We looked at some pictures of the resort in a brochure and spoke to the owner on the phone who sounded very friendly and hospitable. She offered us a gala dinner on new years eve to make up for the higher cost of staying there (partly due to it being new year and everywhere on the island puts their prices up but also because they had a 7 night minimum stay policy and we were only staying 4) and advised us that we were only 10 mins in a taxi to Haad Rin beach and the infamous full moon party. We didn't expect anything amazing but thought the resort looked nice enough and that they sounded friendly. How wrong could we have been???

Arriving by ferry to Koh Phangan in the late afternoon we were suppose to be greeted by a Bayview resort taxi... 45mins later still a no show! After several phone calls to the hotel we were finally picked up. We put the mishap down to the fact we'd booked accomodation in Phuket and there must have been some confusion either end. Still optimistic we were driven in the back of a putrid smelling taxi 50mins away from Haad Rin to Haad Yao... not quite the 10mins by taxi we'd been told - lied to by the owner!

After checking in and just wanting to get our heads down we were shown to our room, well if you could call it that? I was more like a 4x4 box with no space, a mouldy smelling bathroom and a whole wall of the room was glass which would of been lovely if we'd had a view, instead we looked on to the pathway where every single guest at the resort had to walk past! Needless to say we had no privacy and it was very noisy! Every night party go-ers would walk past our room making their way to their own beds but waking us up in the process. Early mornings we'd be woken up by the maids making their rounds and shouting at eachother. I'm not apposed to staying in basic accomodation but other factors really make this hotel a bad one.

For a start the restaurant... it offered a range of food, all very mediocure and forget eating there if you wanted to be served anytime soon. On the one occasion we actually ate there our food was stone cold and when we were too lazy to walk down the beach on another occasion we were told there was a 2 hour wait for food?? Surely you would make sure that you have enough staff to cater for the people staying in your resort? Even if you were at full capacity? Breakfast (included) was dull with very little option and very cold food. All the waiters were very rude and it seemed they were doing you a favour by serving you! They would ignore your requests, shout at eachother in the middle of taking your order, take ages to serve you and I don't think I saw one of them smile at any point?

Pool was decent in size but for some reason they had decided to place it directly next to the restaurant?? So much so that to get in to the pool you have to walk through the restaurant where people are sitting eating? And when you are sitting down to eat you quite easily get splashed by people in the pool! Such a bizarre layout! We didn't use the pool at all for this reason, it just seemed weird and disrespectful to walk through a restaurant where people are trying to enjoy food when you're all hot and in a bikini or wet and dripping after being in the pool?

But here is the big one... we were staying in Koh Phangan for the new years party at Haad Rin beach and were advised we were only 10mins away by taxi to it... LIE! After getting over this as there was nothing we could do about it now we decided to take full advantage of the shuttle service the hotel was providing to take you to and from the party. At 350 bhat per person it seemed reasonable and saved us the hassle of having to book an independant taxi. So we booked it to take us down there for 10.30pm (3 options provided by hotel - 8.30pm, 9.30pm and 10.30pm) and paid for it at reception. On new years eve we went down to reception at 10.15pm in order to get our taxi only to find that there was about 70 people waiting (taxi's can take 12 at a time) Long and short of it all was that they had only provided 4 taxis so people were still waiting at 10.30 when they had booked the 9.30 taxi! The hotel had sold the taxi tickets to people so surely they knew how many taxis they would need? Stop selling tickets for taxis if you know you aren't going to be able to provide enough for everyone! When we went to recpetion to ask where the taxis were as it was now 10.55 and how many taxis were being provided we were shouted at and told to go away and just wait... hardy good customer service! Made us feel like we were the ones in the wrong! We eventually managed to get into a taxi at 11.10pm - over half an hour late!!! Then half way through our journey climbing a hill the taxi's clutch went so the driver instructed all 12 of us to get out which of course we did, with that he then drove up to the top of the hill and we obviously expected him to stop and wait for us to finish climbing the hill... but no... he drove off!! Some people managed to run and get in the back but 4 of us were left behind. We could see the others banging on his window to stop and wait for us but no, off he sped leaving 4 people stranded with no town in sight, in the pitch black and with only 20 mins til midnight. We missed the massive firework display at midnight, we had to pay additional money to get there and it was a miracle that someone stopped to take us! Ruined our night by the time we got there. And as if that wasn't bad enough when we went to reception to explain the problem the following morning we were confronted by the same rude arrogant man who had shouted at us the night before. This time he told us that he'd give us 100 bhat back, not even half of what we'd paid for the service! He looked at us coldly as if he couldn't care less and it wasn't his problem. I've never experienced rudeness like it before, let alone from someone working in the service industry!

I will never ever even consider staying at this resort again and I highly urge people to stay away from it! It's not just the basic and cramped rooms, the service was awful! The worst I have ever experienced! Haad Yao beach itself is a lovely spot and there are some really lovely smaller hotels along the bay offering friendly and efficient service with good food and lovely views to the beach. We met some lovely friendly Thai people just a few minutes walk along the beach. Would recomend the bay but definitely not this hotel! For the price you pay and the service and quality you get there are so many other options around Koh Phangan, PLEASE DON'T DO IT TO YOURSELF!

Have just return from a Christmas and New year break at the resort, and had a great time.

We had a standard room which three people shared. was clean and comfortable, good maid service and clean towels every day in the room - reception also give you beach towels which is good.

The restaurant food and breakfast is a good standard for the price BUT service is very very very slow. It takes a good hour to get a sandwich and drinks and the staff were a little unorganized But while on holiday its not to terrible and an island wide problem. Drinks prices and food quality is good and very well priced.
The NYE garla however was well run and a good night before heading to Hadd Rinn

Beach and pool both lovely and clean. there is also a well priced and well stocked shop on the beach.

The resort itself is very steep, but very well maintained. Its about 50 mins to Haad Rin and the full moon party and Pier - this costs about 200 per person. It is on a nice beach (although there are nicer ones on the island) within walking distance of some cheap restaurants - "Cookies" a 10 min taxi away is defiantly worth a visit

We booked taxis, ferries and a trip through reception who were very helpful. Wifi access is available but a little sporadic.

All in all for the price it was very good and I would return, good if you want a holiday with friends that is a little fuether away from the craziness that is Haad Rin

Massage on the beach was a highlight.
