“Very good hotel, beautiful area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2014

We stayed here during March 2014 for 3 nights. This was my second stay at Havana Beach.

If you are looking for a place to unwind, particularly after the full moon party, Thong Nai Pan is the right place.

The beach is beautiful, dotted with bars/restaurants with a laidback atmosphere.
It is a lot quieter than most locations on Koh Phangan, but if you just want to enjoy a few beers and listen to music on the beach, then this is the place for you.

The resort is very nice, rooms are rather basic - but they were only really for sleeping in our case. The bar at the pool showed Premier League football, which drew a bit of a crowd, and we were made very welcome by the owner.

It is a bit of trek to/from Haad Rin, but that's the charm. Head to Flip Flop Pharmacy bar for the nicest english/irish breakfast, and Mr. Wizzet does great burgers and pizza.

I will definitely return to Havana Beach for my hat-trick - Thong Nai Pan is my favourite spot in Thailand

Spent two nites in Jan. Was hopping to stay in cheaper digs, but were all booked. Room was great. It was worth the extra dollars. Beach was close. Lots of choices for food walking distance along beach. Came with a nice breakfast. Ate mostly other places recommended by TA.
Very clean and lots of nice wood touches.

Last year we visited Havana Beach Resort as part of a Saga trip. We were so impressed that this year we made our own private visit. Things have changed for the worse so we were disappointed.
The room was good but the service was hit and miss. Some days we got water and shampoo others not. Likewise the WiFi was pretty useless as it only worked occasionally.
The staff were generally unresponsive and nowhere near as friendly as the Thai people on Koh Samui. Whilst tables needed cleaning, waste bins needed emptying and clients asking for a bill, the staff were preoccupied on their iPhones at the bar. We saw one person obviously annoyed,as she had to leave the table and go to the bar to ask the staff for the bill.
Many things are worn out and need replacing. The towels are rough and hard like sandpaper and the crockery is cracked and stained. The breakfast was very basic with little variety and no pastries.
The restaurant is the most expensive on the beach with the quality of the food being no better than other cheaper outlets. Go to the restaurant to the left or right of Havana for reasonably priced drinks and food.
The beach is beautiful but there are many other resorts which will offer better value for money.

Room Tip: Nearest the beach

We stayed for 4 nights in a deluxe room. In overall it was a good hotel.

Thong Nai Pan Yai beach is great, very clean, whitish sand, no waves, lots of restaurants at the beach to choose from, supermarket at the beach side, great for relaxing, not for party (not like Thong Nai Pan Noi, that is next to it but with big waves, smaller beach and less restaurant variety). All restaurants close at 10PM, bars stay open till later. From the pier (at the other side of the island) you can get a taxi for 350 bhats per person, the hotel charged us 1000 bhats for the 2 of us. Its about 45 mins from the pier.

After our stay we went to Railay beach, on the east side of Thailand, and we tought this beach is way better than Railay!!!

Ups: clean rooms, awesome pool, restaurant and bar at the beach, family friendly, big bathroom. Deluxe rooms have bathtubs, free water bottles in the room every day.

Downs: really old and stained towels, some mild on the shower curtain, bad breakfast (cold, not much variety), noisy air con. At about 5-6 PM the receptionist leaves and you have to walk down to the bar at the beach if you arrive later, wich wasnt really a problem for us. Despite what it says here, the hotel has no rooms with king size beds, only double size beds.

The problem: when we told the receptionist that we paid the extra night through internet instead of paying directly to them (3% charge if you pay with credit card), she got really angry and started yelling at us. My husband said "listen to me" and she went on "no, you listen yo me!" . I have never ever seen such bad manners in a receptionist. The next morning, when we checked out, she did not even look at me nor say anything when I handed her the keys. The owner had better manners, he said we shouldnt have done that because they loose money by paying to the agengy (agoda or else), but that is not really our problem. During our stay at the hotel, the receptionist insisted on selling us tours or trying to make us book the taxi-boat with her. Explicitly interested only in our money. The owner, on the other side, very honest, he advised us not to take a snorkeling tour one day because the weather was bad and we wouldnt see any fish (wich was true).

Block type rooms, six to a block in nice gardens, but our room had no view from big balcony. Balcony furniture very rustic, hence hard and uncomfortable similar to the beds. Breakfast OK,but egg station manned by a first timed, scramble d eggs was new to him. Altogether pricey for what it was but so is everywhere on this beach.

We stayed here for three nights in February and had a fantastic time. First of all do not expect to have loads of things to do at this resort, it's great for a nice relaxing chill out. On the beach you will have a good choice of places to eat all of them do the basics well ( Thai currys, fried noodles, rice etc) jet ski hire, boat trips and great massage options. we stayed in a room close to reception, which was very well decorated and had everything you need for a comfortable stay. The pool area is very nice and very clean, with lovely comfortable sunbeds. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and it was great to see the very colourful owner taking time to speak to his guests. Breakfast was very good, not loads of choice but what options there were was good. We ate there a couple of evenings and the food was ok, tried the currys but was disappointed, made better myself. If you want a quiet, clean and comfortable place to stay you will not go far wrong with this place. We will return.

Room Tip: They are all great.

Well this is a true Thai beachside property with beachside resturant and bar and an attractive pool set in a picturesque bay with plenty of bars and resturants near by.The rooms are excelent with all the facilities (except a phone ,they give you a whistle to call for attention if needed). This would be a good place to stay away from the big resort hotels. The food was good and most evenings they had a BBQ on the beach which made an excelent setting to eat.
