“Good Hotel and great vacation”

Good Hotel...The staff and spa are fabulous. The spa is very affordable, I got a massage everyday! The restaurant is great as well. We had breakfast there everyday as well as many dinners and tried many different things and everything was good.
The beach is not good for swimming or snorkeling if that is what you are going here for. You much travel to the north end of the island to snorkel and it's about 45 minutes by car. Swimming is possible at the hotel only at certain times of the day due to the corals and tide. The beach is very peaceful and pretty but sunsets are hard to see around the cliffs from the beach also.
The room was a bit overpriced. We had a beach front suite. It was nice. We were disappointed in a few things though. The bathtub would take all day to fill up if you actually wanted to use it and we were really looking forward to that from the pics. People constantly laid in front of our room which didn't leave us much privacy. We were also under the impression our room would be private and detached but it was joined with the other beach front room and you could hear everything. We were also right next to the restaurant and the music played until very late but it wasn't too awfully loud, just not private. The windows and sliding glass door had very thin curtains also so when people walked by our room or laid infront of it on the beach you have no privacy. We loved our hotel and would go back but stay in a cheaper room maybe a poolside bungalow. They looked just a nice and had much more privacy. I talked about mostly the negative things here and keep in mind these are the worst things from our trip so we really don't have anything too disappointing and loved our vacation. I hope these details help someone decide on their next trip. Enjoy!

“safe, quiet and tranquil setting”

i have stayed in koh phangan many times over the past few years and sarikantang is one of the better and safer places to stay, it helps to get out of the hustle and bustle of had rin beach and its so nice to have your own private clean beach, compared to the rest of thailand, the rooms are a bit pricey for what you get, not really a fan of the bathroom layout, as the shower and bathroom our in two seperate rooms, another thing is the toilet shares a roof with the bungalows toilts next door as does the shower which means you can usually hear EVERYTHING thats goes on next door and like wise, so advise to close both doors! the resort is over all really nice, its a bit of dodgy walk back at night if you have had a few too many drinks though as its a steep climb, the staff in the restaraunt are sooooooo lovely and friendly. the staff at reception however obviuolsy dont like their jobs because they have been the rudest hotel staff i have ever come accross. dont know if they were under stress over the full moon period but they should really treat people with a lot more respect and understand that the people arriving there have probably been traveling for a very long time and are very tired too!

over all i would definitley come back here

“We loved it here”

We stumbled on this place as we met someone on the island who recommended it. The place is a little gem! We gave them a call, they gave us an excellent rate and sent someone to pick us up from our existing accommodation nearby. All the staff we dealt with were great! We got upgraded so our rooms was fantastic with a sunken bath and great balcony. Some of the rooms up in the hills overlooking the sea are also great. The rooms aren’t full of furniture, but who wants furniture! The place had a great little pool and was right on the beach front. The beach is nice and quiet and a lovely place to chill. Food in the restaurant was consistently good and cheap. We found some restaurants in the area a bit substandard compared to what we were used to in Thailand. The spa which belongs to the hotel is also really good offer a wide range of treatments. All in all, for the price we paid, this place was great value and worth a try.

had a truly wonderful time - just wish I had longer there! perfect place for a couple/honey-moon type trip - private beach, gorgeous clear water, able to go for walks along the beach and around the rocks, perfect pool if you need refreshing and sitting in the shade during the heat of the day. amazing food and fresh cocktails served at the restuarant there all at very low prices right on the beach, stunning setting and beautifully designed rooms to spend the night in or relax in during the day. could not have had a more perfect stay at sarikantang, would advise anyone to go there!

“Luxury at Low Rates!”

My boyfriend and I stayed here on the last leg of our Thailand trip, having just arrived from a 4 day jungle stay in the Khao Sok National Park.

We hadn't booked anywhere until a few days before, and it was Full Moon season, so we literally went through all the numbers in our 2003 Lonely Planet Guide until this place (listed as "Bumblebee Lodge" -a translation perhaps?), had a room for us. Beware, you will have to book 5 nights before the Full Moon date, and they charge 500Bhat per head for a Full Moon dinner, but the food is great, and you can go back as many times as you want. The 5night thing is apparently also quite common now, unfortunately.

Anyway, we arrived tired and hungry and in need of a little TLC, covered in mozzy bites from our treehouse adventure. We couldn't have asked for more, and all at a reasonable rate.

The location is great: the sunset side of Haad Rin, so a lot quieter, and far enough away that you don't hear all the noise when you get back to your room. Although the bungalows are quite packed in, we never felt overlooked or hemmed in, as the garden flora and fauna is arranged so generously. Every morning, when I woke up to go for a swim in the pool before the hordes came, there werte gardeners pruning and planting.

It's super close to the beach (you literally walk out of the restaurant onto sand), and the spa is positioned overlooking the ocean, so you can have a thai massage overlooking the beach in wonderful stilted chambers, with full floor to ceiling open windows.

The restaurant has a wide selection of food and drinks, and staff were always friendly and courteous to us.

One thing I would say.. watch out for the walk that leads down to the hotel from the center of Haad Rin. On the night of the Full Moon Party, I got my bag stolen here, even though it was a leather over-the-shoulder affair (he tugged til it broke!). There's a junction where you get to 5 or 6 resorts where I think thieves hang out on Full Moon nights, so don't walk down here alone if you can help it. The staff at Sarikantag were really helpful and comforting when I got back to the hotel, but it was a bit of a downer.
