My boyfriend and I stayed here on the last leg of our Thailand trip, having just arrived from a 4 day jungle stay in the Khao Sok National Park.

We hadn't booked anywhere until a few days before, and it was Full Moon season, so we literally went through all the numbers in our 2003 Lonely Planet Guide until this place (listed as "Bumblebee Lodge" -a translation perhaps?), had a room for us. Beware, you will have to book 5 nights before the Full Moon date, and they charge 500Bhat per head for a Full Moon dinner, but the food is great, and you can go back as many times as you want. The 5night thing is apparently also quite common now, unfortunately.

Anyway, we arrived tired and hungry and in need of a little TLC, covered in mozzy bites from our treehouse adventure. We couldn't have asked for more, and all at a reasonable rate.

The location is great: the sunset side of Haad Rin, so a lot quieter, and far enough away that you don't hear all the noise when you get back to your room. Although the bungalows are quite packed in, we never felt overlooked or hemmed in, as the garden flora and fauna is arranged so generously. Every morning, when I woke up to go for a swim in the pool before the hordes came, there werte gardeners pruning and planting.

It's super close to the beach (you literally walk out of the restaurant onto sand), and the spa is positioned overlooking the ocean, so you can have a thai massage overlooking the beach in wonderful stilted chambers, with full floor to ceiling open windows.

The restaurant has a wide selection of food and drinks, and staff were always friendly and courteous to us.

One thing I would say.. watch out for the walk that leads down to the hotel from the center of Haad Rin. On the night of the Full Moon Party, I got my bag stolen here, even though it was a leather over-the-shoulder affair (he tugged til it broke!). There's a junction where you get to 5 or 6 resorts where I think thieves hang out on Full Moon nights, so don't walk down here alone if you can help it. The staff at Sarikantag were really helpful and comforting when I got back to the hotel, but it was a bit of a downer.

We were getting pretty desperate to find accommodation over the full moon period in March. We did not want to stay in some of the crappie beach huts in the centre of Had Rin so when we managed to get booked in here we were delighted!!! It was more than we wanted to pay but was worth every penny. I phoned ahead to give them our boat arrival time from Koh Tao and there was someone there to meet us off the ferry. We stayed for 5 nights.

The resort was wonderful and the room was spacious and comfortable. We were happy with the location it was far enough away from Had Rin to be relaxed - just a few minutes walk for when we did venture out.

Pool and beach were awesome too although not being a fan of sand we opted for pool side every day.

My highlight was the Spa - the ladies in there are all properly trained (unlike some of the places in Had Rin) my reflexology treatment was awesome!!! I also owe the ladies a massive thank you when I burnt really badly one day and turned up at 7pm begging for the sunburn treatment. Even though they were booked out they squeezed me in and I was sooooo grateful!!!

All the treatments were wonderful and I will highly reccommend a treatment at sunset as they put you in a chair on the deck and you can have your foot massage whilst watching the sun go down it really is like paradise!!!

There is a compulsary buffet on the night of the full moon party we were not too happy about this but it was actually quite good and the beef kebabs were delicious!!!!

If I ever go back I would be more than happy to stay here again!!!

My husband and I stayed at Sarikantang for 5 nights in a fan room. The location was great - on a quiet beach a short walk from the main town of Haad Rin (although we got a taxi from the dock to the resort as the walk is uphill that way so not much fun when carrying heavy rucksacks). As the resort has rooms covering all budgets, there was a really good mix of people there. The resort itself was lovely, modern and well kept. There was wireless internet, a great pool, nice restaurant (except for the large red ants that seemed to infest certain areas under the trees - beware they bite!). Our room was very big with a great sea view, and a hammock on the balcony, however it was quite hot at nights due to the fact there was no airconditioning. We were anticipating this having only paid for a fan room but it still took some getting used to. One evening we got back to our room and found the bathroom completely covered in ants, they were everywhere! Luckily the hotel front desk had some Raid so we managed to get rid of them, but not without almost choking to death on the fumes!

Anyway overall Sarikantang was a really nice place to stay, and after wandering around Haad Rin it seemed like one of the better places even though there is a lot of cheaper accommodation available.

My girlfriend and I stayed in Sarikantang for a week during September 2007.

This being our first time in Thailand, we were both a bit apprehensive, but our experience at Sarikantang was amazing!

Unless you are a 22 year old party animal, you really don't want to live on the main beach/party area (Haadrin beach). This is one of the reasons we loved Sarikantang so much - its located about 7 minutes away from the Haadrin, and has its own beautiful beach.

The staff were very friendly and accomodating, the resort is beautiful and the rooms were above average.

We stayed at the deluxe room for 2 nights, (2400 baht per night)but did not like the outside bathroom (too hot) so we then moved to the newer rooms in the newly built building (2500 baht per night), and we enjoyed every minute of our stay.

All in all, I would reccomend Sarikantang to my friends (and to strangers) and will deffinitely be coming back.
