While this resort is definitely value for money, in a pretty location and average on accounts, I really can't understand how it gets the number 1 rating in Koh Phangan unless all other hotels there are just terrible.
We just found the location to be terrible. Miles and miles from anything by jeep which we hired, no other good restaurants or buzz closeby unless we went to other resorts. Even though the full moon party was about to be on, I think if you are in your 20's or 30's and want some restaurants and other establishments wihtin walking distance then it is a much better idea to stay in Haad Rin. We wished we had stayed there as Sunset Cove was windy beyond imagination, making it impossible to swim in the sea or the pool. The sea is so shallow that it is not worth even trying to swim in, whereas the Haad Rin beach was stunning and sheltered.
Lovely people, OK, very average food in the restaurant. Everything is nice and new and it represents great value for money and a nice isolated, (but not really idyllic) location.
TV which only played DVDs in room with hard uncomfortable couch which forced us to lie on the floor while the wind howled and storm ensued. Just not a great place if you have to spend time in the room.
