We stayed at Blue Hill in February 2007. On the arrival day we got picked up from the pier (you have to call them and let them know.)

We had a villa of our own. The room was clean and we found no bug or ants in our room. The view was really breath-taking, I can still remember the view vividly until today. The shower water was strong. Though the water was not clear. (I wouldn't drink it. Just buy bottled water from 7-11.) But I guess that comes with life on a small remote island. During FMP, you will not hear loud music because it is far enough from Haad Rin.

Breakfast was nothing to write home about. But there are so many places to eat out there anyway.

The hotel is a bit far from Haad Rin, but you can always get a lift to the town in one of their pickup car (5 mins), and you can always call for someone to pick you up from haad-rin as well (50 baht per person per trip). We used the hotel car service exclusively because it is cheaper than hiring a car from the outside and you don't have to deal with bargaining. And the car service is 24-hr... We even asked them to drive us to Haad Rin at 2am.

The hotel has a safe, if you needed one. The safe was not in our room, but in the main office. The safe required a pair of keys to open. We kept one key. The receptionist kept the other one.

The staffs were polite and ready to help us. (But you have to know how to deal with Thais too. Be polite and they will try their best to help you. Being rude and loud get you nowhere.)

I would recommend people who wanna go to FMP to arrive 3 days before FMP (the atmosphere got tense closer to FMP) and stay 2 days after FMP (the atmosphere became quite laid-back and relaxing). Overall we had a great time at Blue Hill and we would definitely return for our next FMP.

The resort was clean, modern & simple. Compared to other accommodation in the area it is one of the better options. We stayed in a seaview villa and the sunset was spectacular! Definitely a highlight of the trip

The food is ok at best and the choice is limited. The other downside is that it’s a little hard to access the town. We walked in to Haad Rin via the beach (approx. 20 mins) but had trouble in parts due to the high tide. There is a driver at the resort but he was always out when we needed a lift.

Generally speaking we weren’t that impressed with Koh Phangan after staying in luxury on Koh Samui but it depends on what sort of holiday you are after. If you’re heart is set on Haad Rin, this is a good option if you want to be away from the action. We were not here during a full moon party. And it was very quiet.

Arrived at Blue hill resort on Koh Phangan yesterday and was really excited the hotel was beautiful and the views stunning, Hotel was pretty empty and we had the pool to ourselves which was cool. Have travelled Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia for 3 months last year and had no major problems with the bugs, you expect a certain amount of ants, lizards and spiders these are tropical climiates. However I draw the line at cockroaches in my bed which is what we found at 1am on our return from town! We informed the hotel staff who apologised and moved us from our sea view villa to the hotel rooms where we found yet another cockroach! All though at least this time it wasn't climing into bed with us! As there was a difference in price between the villa and the hotel room we asked for the extra back this morning when we were told it was a fly and we couldn't have our money back. This hotel was not a 10 GBP a night room it cost 42 GBP and for the money I don't expect what I got. If you wanna stay in a wildlife park go to blue hill resort!

For Ko Phangan, Blue Hill is one of the nicer resorts. It has excellent views over Ko Samui, a pool and very friendly staff. While they did not have a bar by the pool, the staff were on hand to take your orders and bring your meals / drinks to the poolside. You can walk into Had Rinn along the beach in about 20 - 30 mins. Areas to be aware of are the persistent drainage problems with the shower and numerous ants in the room. But I suppose this is living real close to nature. The major construction work has been finished and they now need to complete the final touches ie, garden, walkways, etc. Sometimes going back to the hotel at night can be a problem as there are not that many taxi's around. Overall, the hotel is above average for Ko Phangan standards.
