“Nice resort, bad service - not worth the money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2012

We stayed in this resort in a hotel room for couple of nights in February. It is a nice place - has nice interior and exterior, nice pool and very nice view over the sea. The restaurant is very close to the sea so you can enjoy your meals/drinks with a really good view. The room was clean with fresh towels, safety box and everything it should have.
What I didnt like though was the service. There was one long haired male receptionist who was very unpleasant and impolite. When talking to us he would constantly look somewhere else, he seemed bored and even bothered when asked for something. Once we asked him if he could fix the internet as it didnt work for almost a day. In response to this he took out his tablet and showed us that his internet worked fine while he was connected to a different network . End of discussion. When we insisted that our connection was not working he lied to us saying that he had already done something with the wifi router to fix it.
The restaurant staff was a little better but several times we felt uncomfortable - breakfast buffet was empty and being tided up 15 minutes before the end of breakfasts, we were forced to finish up one of our diners quickly because apparently the restaurant was closing (not even at 10pm). Another time when we came for a meal, got the menu and were starred at until we made our choice. If a waiter felt like waiting for too long we would start clicking with his pen and dragging his feet to hurry us up a little.
If I look at the price they charged us per a room/night I would certainly imagine the staff treating us a lot better and with respect. It is not worth the money.

Ther wife and I spent 4 nites here had a bungalow by the pool, the room was perfect, clean had everything you could need. The restaurant was right on the beach, great food!!!, the waiters, which we got to know a little bit were from Burma and they were all fantastic, when we go back to Thailand we will be staying here without question. I can't imagine anyone not liking this place!

Room Tip: The ones around the pool are really nice.

A group of 6 of us (3 couples) travelled around and stumbled across this gem of a place. We had a look at a few of the rooms, settled on 3 haggled a price (about £20 a night) and booked for 4 nights. Easily could have stayed longer.
The rooms were really comfortable, king size bed, good mattreses and linen, nice bathrooms...very nice.
The massages were amazing to think we pay more than 5 times that much in England, us girls got a massage every day.
The pool was really nice, especially when the beach is high tide. We even went in the pool at night as the evenings were so hot.
The restaurant is very nice, breakfast was good. Nice selection and omelettes made if you ask. Although the fruit was so tasty I was happy with that and a cup of tea. We ate on the terrace with the beach and sea right there. It couldn't get any more picturesque.
The 'my way' bar right next door is really nice for evenings if you like to chill out with a cocktail on the hammocks. And not too far down was really nice bar with a pool table and library of books!
It really is off the beaten track and definitely would need a taxi to get anywhere.
The food shop right at the front has everything you need and flip flops and stuff like that.
In the hotel there's a really nice wooden structure right in the middle of the trees and nature, and we went there in the evening to play cards which was really nice.
Overall a beautiful place. We'd go there again (as soon as we've saved up for flights again!!)

Booked three rooms night before arrival and got two upgrades upon check in. Ended up with one smelly main building connecting room, one pool view bungalow and one pool view room. The bungalow was the best one, the pool view room ok and the main building one was awful. Spacious room, but in desperate need of a renovation. Smelled like mould and with dirty sheets. Connecting room with a wafer thin door. Not good with noisy neighbours. View straight into a concrete wall, and that goes for the window in the bungalow as well, it was blocked by a concrete wall. No hot water and only cold water in the sink as well, with one of those automatic 5-seconds buttons. The power went out three times during one night, but luckily there's a generator. The only problem is, it is located right next to the rooms in the main building and it's not especially silent. Other than that, friendly staff and a good restaurant right at the beautiful beach.

This is a must see beach, bring the kids bring the grandparents, have an inexpensive meal at the restaurant - cost around $10 + wine $30 [AUD]
Great snorkeling straight out the front
The owner is a fun and delights in tanking his version of English - a funny man.
Get a table on the sand or around the pool.

Room Tip: Close to the beach

We stayed on the 2nd floor, above the restaurant in the main building. Never were disturbed by any noise, though. The sound insulation between the rooms is also good. Nevertheless, if I booked now, I would prefer a bungalow in the garden, which is more private, as the balconies in the main bulding are only divided with low partitions, and you can always see your neigbours on both sides.
The hotel has nice grounds with lots of greenery, but very small wooden deck with sunbeds, so we always had to get up early to make sure we find sunbeds still available, because the resort is quite big and seemed to be full.
The beach was a very narrow stripe of sand, fully flooded at high tides, so there is no alternative to the deck.
The massage at the hotel spa was disappointing. The girls seemed not to know what they were doing, so in order not to harm the clients, they were just doing light strokes rather than real massage.
Right behind the hotel is a small village with few shops, laundry and ATM machines, which is convenient. However, the hotel is quite far from the main road, so you can's easily catch a songthaew to go to Thongsala or any place else - and the taxi is quite pricey.
As for the restaurant, buffet breakfasts were good for us, dinner food was just ok (too bland for our taste), and prices for wine too high. We ate there only once, and afterwards found much nices places along the beach.
In general, we do not regret our choice, but will not be back, as Salad beach did not become our favourite.

We stayed at the Salad Beach Resort for 5 nights. Try to keep it short:
The resort is well maintained, the staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms have been clean with daily room service. Furthermore the staff was very hornest: One day we forgot our 600€-camera in front of our room and the cleaning staff didn't take it but obviously put it on the table while they cleaned our "public balcony" in the morning (an improvement would be if they bring the camera to the receiption and give us a note about it).
The pool was clean as well, the resort was nice and green. The rooms had a security locker which is very good!

The breakfast buffet was not high quality...in fact we had breakfast included but only ate it ones. The other days we went to another restaurant to have breakfast because the breakfast at Salad Beach Resort was not very tasty. Another day we tried the restaurant for dinner....we ate directly at the beach, they had a friendly service and the food was good. Defnitly better then the breakfast.

Now, we had room 325 and room 326 - booth rooms are in the Main Building. We paid 2,300 Baht per night and room. It was peak season but defnitly overpriced because the rooms are very noisy - you can here the cars, and motorbikes starting in front of your window, the talking at the reception and the telephone ringing. And there is not a big noise protection...

Room Tip: Try to avoid room 325 and 326 - they are very noisy and to expensive for the noise.
