We stayed here for one night in a 500THB fan bungalow - kills me when I compare it to my 600 THB room in Chiang Mai! It was a lil wooden hut with ROCK hard bed (sore next day), mosquito net with holes, fan (that didn't penetrate the dense mosquito net), bugs and spiders, yucky bathroom. However for 2000 THB the aircon room wasn't 'much' better so we thought it's better to save the money. The beach, of course, is lovely. You can walk for ages out to sea and the water level doesn't get much deeper (it's a weird experience). The mauy thai stadium had a fight on the night we were there and it was awesome - as fun as Lumpini so highly recommended. Plus it meant we got back to resort at 1:30 and didn't have to spend too much time in the room. I don't get lonely planets excitement about the restaurant food - it was average but we are vegan's so maybe the carnie food is better?
