“Friendliest staff in Thailand!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2012

When we first arrived at the resort we were a bit unsure, first impressions were its tiny and as it didn't have a pool we were in two minds...BUT do not let the fact it has no pool put you off as it has its own little beach area with sun beds, which was cleaned and raked every morning.
We were greeted by a very friendly woman, who over the 7 days we stayed could not have been more polite and helpful.
The hotel is run by a family who all made you feel so welcome and didn't hesitate once if you needed help with something. The place has just been taken over so it was in the middle of being changed about, although this didn't affect our stay at all. The rooms are slightly dated, but they are clean with air con and hot shower. We stayed in the deluxe which was plenty big enough and had a beautiful view. The town is only a 15 min walk (beach or road) with the option to get a taxibus for 50bht each.
The food in the evening was average price but not average quality, the food was lovely and well prepared every time we eat there.
One night the manager invited us over for a drink and didn't charge us for the drinks which we thought was really nice of them, then on our last day we had to be up at 5.30am and the woman who first greeted us got out of bed to make us some breakfast (breakfast didn't open till 8 so she was still in pjs!). We also had to go stand outside hotel in hope to grab a taxi to the pier, the man (who we assume was her partner) kindly ran to get his moped and was willing to drive to find us a taxi.
When I previously mentioned the staff will go out of their way to help you this is a perfect example, the staff made our stay at Thaniza excellent and we would highly recommend this hotel to other people. If we return to Phangan in the future we would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: We had a deluxe room which was the top floor (2 floors high) facing the sea. Lovely views!! No noise...

From the minute we arrived we could not have been made more welcome by the lovely family who had just taken over this hotel. They carried our luggage to reception and the check in was quick and painless.

The family had just taken over the hotel and were in the process of renovating all the rooms and communal areas so in some places it did look a bit run down. There were signs of damp places on the wall in our room BUT

It was a wonderful place to stay. The room was large with a balcony overlooking the sea, albeit through some trees. The bed linen was very clean and changed daily. Within minutes of us getting there they brought us a brand new cable box and set it up for us so we had lots of channels to choose from. There was tea/coffee facilities replenished daily. Lots of hot water. Free WiFi in the communal areas.

The hotel itself is not in the main centre of Haad Rin. To get to the main part of town we walked down the beach most days which took about 15 minutes for a slow comfortable stroll. You could walk down the main road but we decided not to bother as it was quite windy and the cars/bikes did go rather fast.

Apart from the lovely people who ran the hotel there were 2 outstanding things which made our stay there so amazing.

The food! We ate there every evening and without exception the food was wonderful. Everything was tasty, well presented, hot and really cheap!

The other thing that makes this hotel special is the beach. Because of how it is situated away from the town and one of the last places on that part of the beach it was almost like having your own private beach. It was situated right on the sand, no roads to cross or anything. the staff kept the sand immaculate, there were free sun beds and towels and it was deserted! The sea was warm, clean and safe to swim in. We did not have any children with us but i would have been quite happy for my own children to have played in the water. It was picture postcard perfect!

On the last day they offered us a free ride back into town to the ferry port, not something we had ever had before and much appreciated.

If you are looking for peace and quiet in nice surroundings with nice people looking out for you this is the place to stay.

Room Tip: Be aware as of September 2012 some of the rooms had been done up and some were still in the process...
