We stayed here for 2 weeks during a down time part of out Thailand travels, it was great, rooms were clean, pool was nice and staff go a long way to make you feel welcome. It is not too far from the Full Moon Party area but for enough away that you don't have to deal with the aftermath! I would hire a hotel scooter and tour the island, we did and it was amazing, stopping off to feed elephants on the side of the road and then going on the Haad Rin which is the more party orientated end of the island. Locally there is a great food market with great food at even better prices. It was a great stay and look out for their cocktail offers served up by to chatty Burmese guys.

The resort is based right on the beach but also has a great little pool. The restaurant serves great food with friendly service. The bungalows are small but well maintained. The ensuite bathroom had a dodgy shower but when we bought it to the attention of the guy at reception it was fixed straight away. The only downside was a funky smell in the room but you kind of get used to it. The staff are friendly and helpful, just don't buy your boat ticket through them, you will get it half price at the pier. It is a very peaceful resort not too far from the shops and restaurants. If you want to visit the busier areas you will have to fork out for a taxi or rent a moped. The drive up the coast is gorgeous and there is loads to do on the island.

We stayed here during full moon Oct 2012. Although it's a little far away from Haad Rin (where the full moon party is, 20 min taxi), what it lacks in location it makes up for with friendly staff, great restaurant, amazing pool/beach/bar. There were complimentary fire shows, pool competitions, traditional thai dance shows and best of all, an amazing complimentary Mexican Buffet the night of of the full moon party (make sure to ask for the tickets at reception when checking in). A really chilled place that was a perfect antidote for the craziness of the full moon party. If you don't want to be bang in the middle of Haad Rin then this place is perfect!

Lime n Soda, although a little out of the way and without the ferry pick up I emailed about [with hideous directions to the resort!] is a good place to stay if you want good value but not a skanky dorm room. The beds are tiled into the room with mattresses on top which is one way of maintaining stability I suppose, and hut had TV [the first and only place in 2 weeks in Thailand!], air con, clean sheets and a reasonable bathroom. The restaurant had some of the best food around, although they seem to get really busy and take longer for food in the evenings. Apart from reception being slow and lacklustre, the staff were good. The resort has a pool with deckchairs as well as being right on the sea front. The views are really good in this respect.
