“Shame about the music.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013 via mobile

Myself and my partner stayed at the resort for ten days in April.
Upon arrival at the port it was agreed that a transfer would be available to us. However we hung around for a while and no transfer arrived. I gave the resort a call and Adam got a free taxi to us within 5 minutes which was fabulous. Upon arrival at the resort, we were greeted by the lovely staff and shown to our room. We booked a concrete beach bungalow. The bungalow itself was very basic, but it had everything we needed. It was right on the beach and had amazing views. Upon arrival, the resort was so peaceful. A couple of families were staying there and a few backpacking couples were also there. Everyone was there for the same purpose......to relax.
The food was basic western food and some thai food. It was always lovely and fresh and relatively cheap. We ate there for most mealtimes.
Adam was absolutely fantastic. He gave us a map and pinpointed the best places to go on the island. He also booked our early morning return transfer to the port. He was always there to help and couldn't of wished for anything more from him.
We hired a car through Adam. I had read a review which stated that someone was charged for damage to a hire car from the same company. However we didn't have any issues with this. We asked Adam to arrange a car for us and we had the keys within an hour. There were no extra charges at all.
We only have two negative points with regards to the resort. The first thing was that a LARGE group of around 18 young backpackers checked in mid way through the our holiday. They were so loud and had absolutely no regards for the other people staying there. They were rude to the staff and just complete pains in the backsides. They all booked separately so the managers weren't to know that they all knew one another. It was nothing that anyone could help so it isn't a reflection on the resort.
The other issue was the late night music. Adam was great and he kept the music down late at night if the bar stayed open late. This was never an issue for us.....until the last night. We had an early start (6a.m) so we had an early night. We expected the music to be on until late. However, at around 1a.m the music suddenly went REALLY loud and extremely hardcore. This was continuous until 4:17 in the morning. I know that was the time because we were both about to get dressed and storm outside as it turned off. I am not sure whether any staff were even there as we didn't have any issues with the music other than the one night. It was a shame as it put a dampener on our otherwise good stay.

Place like no other. The moment you go into the resort, you're transfered to paradise. It's so green, clean and all the flowers are constantly looked after. The bungalows are basic, but what else do u need, when you got that beach and view just in front of your door?
The other thing is the service and people. They all are very nice and helpfull all the time, especially Adam is the one worth mentioning.
I've had a walk down the beach the other day and I didn't find any place ( so chilled) like this.
That's the one to pick!
Hope to see it again!

We traveled from Canada with our kids (ages 9, 11) and really didn't know what to expect. We flew to Samui then took a ferry to Haad Rin. First of all, the airport taxi people can arrange taxi and ferry for you (1200 baht for the family total) but they work on commission so they had us go to haad rin which is waaaay further from the resort than tong sala. Go to tong sala pier b/c its only 5 min from the resort while haad rin is about 20 min over the rollercoaster road.
The resort is down a long dusty road so we were a bit sceptical as to what we were getting into. As soon as you enter the resort grounds you are greeted by the most beautiful garden with flowering trees and fish ponds. Stunning!
Bungalows are either right on the beach with a/c or down two garden paths.. These bungalows have fans. They are the ones we stayed in and we found them perfect. A few nights we wished we had a/c--we came in April which is low season and also the hottest time of year. It was HOT!!!!
the good thing is the place is quiet. We are leaving a few days before full moon party b/c they are booked solid even though its low season. We've been here 10 days and would definitely stay longer if they had room for us.
The food is excellent, everything is homemade and the service is very good. Lots for our picky kids to eat! Lots of yummy Thai food too, of course.
The pool was an unexpected blessing as our kids were in it everyday. The ocean is not great for swimming here b/c the tide was low.
Wi-fi is free in the restaurant and beach bar. Adam, the manager is super friendly and helpful. He made lots of suggestions of snorkeling places and places to go. He arranged a car rental for us, no problem. Driving is on the left hand side and according to my husband once you get the hang of it, it's fine! We are driving all over the island now and seeing tons, so its way better and cheaper than relying on a taxi all the time. Little stores are also within walking distance, same with many other restaurants.
We will definitely come back here. I highly recommend this resort!!!

We stayed in a bungalow on the beach. It was quiet and a great place to relax. The only noise at night was the lizards :). The food was OK, we popped out to Thong Sala or Haad Rin in the daytimes so didn't try too much. The bungalow itself was relatively basic, but being right on the beach was great! They have hammocks and sun beds along the beach, and the whole place was just very chilled. The only problems we had were with the staff. The waiters and waitresses were very rude and clearly couldn't be bothered. They shuffled over to take our orders and then usually got them wrong. My boyfriend ordered a sandwich, they brought out a totally different one and then suggested that 'it is basically the same' and that he should be happy with it. It was completely different from what we asked for! They just had bad attitudes and seemed very disinterested, as did the guy running the place, who seemed more concerned with flirting with the female visitors and getting hold of some weed. Although it is a relaxed resort, we felt a lot more quality of service was needed.

Stayed here just for one night with a Dutch friend but visited many many times to hang out and chill. For the money they have the best most characterful beach bungalows I'd stayed in on Phangan and I've stayed at over 6 different bungalow resorts all over the island, not to mention countless others I've visited and nosed around! Perfect location, very attentive Thai staff and Andy and Adam the managers there couldn't be more generous and helpful connecting you with everything of interest to you on the island. You feel safe here and can really relax. Kick back on the beach watching the world go by or learn to kitesurf at the school next door. Delicious fresh food, both Thai and Western, really nice modern swimming pool, chilled beach bar with good music and wide selection of drinks, pool table and huge flat screen tv in the lounge to catch up on any sports that you like. I can highly recommend a stay here.

This place is designed for travels and that's about it...

The bungalows/huts aren't great... They have beds in and a TV and that's it... The bathroom is outside and when it rains the drains get blocked! You have to ask for your room to be cleaned and this wasn't done properly!

Air conditioning didn't always work, and there were quite a few power cuts but that's probably because it rained all the time...

The food however was pretty good! Both English and Thai food was good...

Pool area was clean... Bit of dog pooh here and there but that was the least of my thoughts...

It's not expensive to stay there and you do get what you paid for...

Last thought... If you want to experience "proper" Thailand then the isn't the place to go... Full/half/quarter moon parties were good... Not much different to partying in Ayia Napa/Ibiza etc...
