“Good Rooms, horrible staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

I went on January on full moon period. the hotel has very good location (5-10min drive from Haad rin) the rooms are decent and clean with A/C, TV and DVD however the staff was very rude. from the first moment we arrived they started shouting, then one of the staff or the owner as he was having dinner on the restaurant, threatened us even before going to the party, that if we make noise he is going to kick us out, and that he knows "people" here.
The hotel has no beach, but it has a pool.

Stayed in a bungalow for 4 nights. It was clean and a good location for us as it was in between the pier and hat rin. The hotel had a pool which was nice but the bar was not always open. The are only a couple of places nearby to eat or drink without having to get a taxi.

I stayed here twice on my recent trip to SE Asia (once in December 2010, then January 2011) and both times I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. While the staff don't speak excellent English they do make an effort, they're all nice and willing to help with anything you need. The in-room DVD-player was a bonus and the pool is great. Good location, about 10 minutes drive from Haad Rin, and the beach is just across the road about 50m down a small driveway. Will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Thailand.

I stayed at tanouy over the august 2010 full moon. Having read the bad review before arriving i must admit i wasn't expecting much. Contrary to what that person has written, the food there was great. Proper home cooked thai food and better than anything we had in the town centre (not sure about the western food, didn't try it). The air conditioned room didn't have mosquito nets but nor did anywhere else we stayed in thailand (ranging from 4 start to 0 star). The owners were not unfriendly but a little shy. By the time we left they had definitely opened up and went out of their way to make us comfortable. I'd rather have hosts who are shy at first but genuine, than ones who are overly friendly from the start but purely motivated by how much money they're going to make from you. It was nice to stay out of the haad rin madness & i would recommend this place to anyone.

1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2009

I stayed in Tanouy Gardens with 6 friends over the last full moon party, we booked over the internet before we arrived which was our first mistake as friends who just turned up paid a fraction of the price. We were the only people staying and assumed that the owners would want to make a good impression because of this.. we were mistaken. They were rude and we felt we were unconvincing them in some way all the time. The outside of the bungalows and swimming pool are very nice and the swimming pool is obviously brand new, unfortunately the rooms are not new. Two couples had to swap rooms because of ant problems and none of the rooms had mosquito nets so we all got bitten. We ate there one night and all food and drink tasted of mothballs. They owner got very cross when we pointed this out. One of my friends also ordered a cheese burger. He got a bun with cheese in but without meat, apparently a cheese burger doesn’t have meat in at Tanouy Gardens – again the owner got very angry with us when we complained. It seems to be a family run place but no one speaks English which makes things more difficult. It’s not good value for money and if I were you I’d stay somewhere else.
