“Beautiful, relaxing, brilliant service - a little slice of heaven.”

Arrive in style and comfort on the launch, after being picked up by friendly staff at Samui airport. This is a very beautiful place, the staff are extremely friendly and efficient, and the rooms are gorgeous. We stayed in one of the Ocean Pool Villas, which was right on the beach, was large and had a beautiful outdoor bathroom. There was an outdoor undercover daybed, and our own plunge pool. It was really lovely, had efficient airconditioning, essential for that time of year as it was very hot. I had a treatment at the Spa, which was of a high standard and reasonably priced. The beach had white sand and warm water with the added bonus of the complimentary iced water and fruit skewers (etc) delivered to your sunlounge on the beach or at the pool. Have a massage at one the beachside salas, good and cheap. Try Luna in the town for a good dinner. We were sad to leave!

We recently stayed at the Rasanda as part of our 3 week honeymoon. Having spent 2 weeks in New Zealand doing all kinds of activities we wanted a place to put our feet up and relax. We couldn't have picked a more perfect place! The transfers on the speed boat were amazing. We had a very warm welcome on the beach and were in our rooms in no time.

We stayed in one of the Thai villas with 2 floors, apple tv, private pool, day bed, it was fantastic, ok it didn't have the sea view but it was secluded and very private. There were security guards everywhere so we felt completely safe in the resort and to be honest outside the resort was fine also.

The staff we all amazing, they were really attentive to our needs. You couldn't move your sun bed without two guys running down the beach to help you!! There were a few language barriers in the restaurant, but guess what you're in Thailand!!

I have to give a special mention to Chef Nick and his team in the kitchen. The food was amazing!! On our last night we had a romantic table laid out for us on the beach with a special menu created especially for us by Nick. It was out of this world. (Men: you will definitely be in the good books if you surprise the wife with this!!).

In summary the place was amazing and I can't think of a single thing that would improve the Rasananda.

Thanks for a great honeymoon!!

Rasananda is a great place to stay with very friendly staff. In the resort is everything you could ask for. The rooms are furnished very stylish. Not comparable with any other resort at this beach. It is so much better. The breakfast is very good. Fresh fruits, fresh fruit juices, and everything else you could like. We had dinner in the resort only twice. It is very good, not too expensive, but more expensive as at somewhere else outside the resort. At We booked at first just for one week, since we were not sure, how we will like it at this place. We tried to make an extension, but the resort was fully booked. The staff tried everything to make the extention possible and it finally worked out. We had the best honeymoon someone could imagine. The staff at rasananda made the trip special for us. We would love to come back again some day.

Stayed with a friend for 2 weeks, excellent for couples and lovers of design and an informal luxury. Relaxing holiday with some trips arranged there such as surrounding the island by local boat, cooking course, Trip to Koh Tao (to discover that we took the right decision to come to Rasananda...), shopping trip to Tongsala, etc.
Strength:
1.all villas/appartments have own little pool. For couples and those who can spent a lot ocean villas are recommendable. More economic garden villas are really fine too as you look into a beautiful shaped garden and some have seaview too. recommendable to book terrace for the view and privacy.
2. Design of garden, villas and community areas
3. the beach seems to be the nicest of the island for swimming, just for snorkeling you need to book a trip
4. relaxed barefeet atmosphere
5. we liked the thai cooking course
6. attentive management takes care for their guests
7. Beautiful Spa with excellent service. prices around 50€ per 90 minutes massage. at the beach you pay 6 € for 60 minutes - but its another experience. Up to you.

Weaknesses:(you should not worry too much about them as overall everything was fine)
- price level of restaurant, bar and trips is twice or double as high as outside the resort. well you can decide yourself where to go.
- service is overall good but it can happen that you need to ask twice as they forgot something or reception is not capable of understanding english always.
- we booked 2 single beds but needed to arrange ourselfes on a sofabed which was not a problem in our case, but make sure in your booking.

Tipp: you can easily arrange your transfer locally.

Just came back from a weeklong stay at the resort. We were upgraded to a beachfront villa with daybed and plunge pool upon our arrival. Although our room did have a bit of an odor (as some other reviews have mentioned), the staff were quick to bring in scented candles to address the problem. The room was spacious, and there's nothing like being right on the beach. We did not have any concerns about privacy, noise or safety referenced in other reviews. In fact, the security staff was fully in evidence throughout our stay.

The hotel was built in a modern style and offer all the amenities of a top resort. The pool and pool bar are particularly attractive. While it is true that service is occasionally slow, this is not particularly unusual for a new hotel. For example, a few mornings we had to call repeatedly to get our room cleaned. The important part is that the staff is very kind and working hard to bring it in line with 5-star standards. The manager is clearly pushing very hard in this regard. In fact, the manager was very visible throughout our stay to address any problems or concerns. He is clearly very capable professionally, and we have no doubts they will be firing on all cyclinders within a few short months.

The hotel's best feature is its physical location on one of the best beaches in the country, if not all of Asia. (By way of comparison, the Santhiya sits a on a much smaller, separate and seemingly artificial beach nearby, and we saw many of their guests navigating the disjointed, winding walkway to get to the main beach.) The water at Thong Nai Pan is crystal clear, the sand sugary soft, and the bay is framed by hills and palm trees. The whole atmosphere is very laid back and entirely restful. One can imagine in 10 years this place will be a mess of jet skis, beach hawkers, and overbuilding (a la Samui), so would book now!

All in all, a wonderful beach holiday and a great opportunity to relax, refresh and recharge. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for an upscale resort in the Gulf of Thailand.

My wife and I stayed at the Rasananda for 8 nights in May. We had been trying to find an idyllic place to really switch off and relax. We found the hotel via Kuoni and really liked the description and photos but were put off by some of the reviews on here. After a lot of searching we decided that we would take the risk as there was just something about the place that was drawing us to it.

We didn't regret that decision at any stage. We decided to blow the budget and went for an Ocean Front Villa ( room No. 40 ) but got a good deal through Kuoni where we only paid for 4 nights. The room was beautiful, well sized, with a fantastic open air bathroom. Outside of the bedroom was a raised wooden area with plunge pool and covered day bed and then 5 steps down to the beach. The beach was always clean and generally very quiet. The hotel has a roped off area which their security are good at discreetly ensuring is only used by hotel visitors. We had reserved sun-loungers right outside our villa, although i'm not sure if that was the case for every residence.

The staff were at all times very welcoming and extremely helpful. Particularly Fon the Residence manager, Chart, who was Head Waiter and Barman and all the staff in the Spa. There might be the occasional language confusion but you are in Thailand and I don't speak any Thai so i feel more at fault.

We had dinner at the resort restaurant three nights. Every time, the service was excellent and the food was amazing. Compliments to Head Chef Nick and his staff. It may seem slightly expensive by the local restaurants standards but was only about £30 - £40 for a three course meal for two, without alcohol.

The other nights we ate out at the local restaurants. We would highly recommend Luna and the Bamboo Hut for stunning local food at unbelievable prices. The Bamboo Hut is like being in someone's front room, very personal and good home cooked food!

We both had several treatments in the Spa. It's a beautiful setting with very experienced and attentive staff, a perfect way to unwind completely.

We had an amazing time at The Rasananda and would definitely go back again. It was the perfect place for us and exactly what we had hoped fo. I'm confused by some of the reviews as they seem to describe a completely different place from where we stayed.

The only negative we can mention, as with numerous other reviews is the boat transfer arrangements. Like many other we had been told it would be a private boat transfer direct to the hotel. We were surprised to then be on a small speedboat which docked on the opposite side of the island followed by the 40 minute 4x4 ride to get to the hotel. After querying this with Fon, she arranged for a couple of sessions at the Spa as an apology and a direct transfer on our return to Koh Samui. Make sure this is clarified to you when you book.

Fon and Chart with their staff will make this hotel the success that it deserves to be, just not sure that Charles the GM is the right person to be the face of the hotel. Sorry Charles.

If you have any doubts from the reviews here i would say go, and go quickly before they put the prices up!
