“Tropical island paradise.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

We spent two nights at this wonderfully designed tropical retreat with a long stretch of private white sand beach early this December .Weather was wonderful, sunshine all day, uncommon from what I heard for this time of the year.Forty minutes speedboat ride to the resort beach was smooth. We were welcome by the resort team on arrival at the resort beach, given an nice refreshing mango shake and quickly shown to our beach front villa.Quite spacious, although showing signs of aging.Built with a lot of natural materials.Wood and bamboo.Full of nice tropical garden.Service was good.Dining was excellent. We were introduced to their new chef at breakfast,i believe name was Don,an experienced Mediterranean inspired seafood cuisine who created a wonderful dinner menu for us of mackerel grilled on olive oil which tasted superb accompanied by a bottle of Rioja . The two days we spent was a wonderful relaxing time away from it all.The resort itself is very well design and pleasant .Although we feel it lack proper maintenance and the air of luxury as it has positioned it self to be.It seems that all the ingredients are there to be among one of the leading best ,but somehow they need to get it right .Maybe they need to look at samples of Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton for details.
We would not hesitate to recommend Rasananda for anyone who is looking for a romantic getaway.

Room Tip: If you can afford the price,The ocean front villa is a fantastic experience.Only steps away from the...

“Happy every day ( even rainy days )”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

Arrived at the lovely welcome lounge at the jetty, and were impressed by the shower facility, welcome drink, and check in completion whilst we waited for the speedboat transfer! Would have been a little fed up with the long wait ( transfer time would have meant 2 hours) however we took off sooner as there was bad weather closing in! Arrived at the lovely wide beach in front of the hotel, and were quickly shown to our beach front pool villa. Wonderful 1st floor(very private), beautifully furnished room with big terrace and plunge pool. Complimentary spirits provided in room were a nice touch. Also beach bag, flip flops, slippers, robes. The tropical gardens with koi carp ponds, and wooden pathways lead to the main pool, restaurant & bar. There is also a gym, library, and spa. Breakfasts are wonderful, taken at tables under the palm trees, and with feet in the soft sand, bliss! The beach front properties have reserved beds on the beach, there are many reviews with comments about this, and although we did have our allocated beds, I think the hotel could provide for all villas, there is plenty of room along the wide beach frontage. The spa was stunning, built into huge boulders in the hillside with wooden walkways, and ponds. The signature massage is heavenly, although very overpriced. the advertised special of the day, on the daily activities sheet, was always a Thai massage. When we raised this on day 4 (the first time we saw the covering manager, the GM was on holiday), we were offered discount on a treatment of our choice, and learnt that there were other daily specials. Tip, go ask, although I would suggest the hotel could do a better job of advertising this in villas, and should review the packages they offer for the duration of hotel stays. The restaurant menu was very good, although we seldom ate in the hotel, we ate in the inexpensive and traditional little restaurants in the village right on the hotel's doorstep. In summary, great spot, lovely rooms, nice touches, friendly service, laid back, spa beautiful but too expensive, we would definitely go back!

Room Tip: We loved the beach front pool villa, as being on 1st floor gave us more privacy

“A tropical paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

This resort is the best place I have stayed in anywhere by far. Situated on the eastern isolated side of the island, it connects with the west coast with a road which is unmade for most of the stretch. Although lack of connectivity doesn't mar the beauty of place. It is situated smack on the beach with beautiful sand. We booked this place because of its review on tripadvisor and found it exceeding expectations. Staff is very pleasant, helpful and forthcoming although language problem do comes as in all of thailand. Place was maintained very well, rooms have luxurious furniture and plunge pools. Negative points were cold water in plunge pools, mosquitoes (cant avoid them in a tropical place), lack of variety in food and over expensive food. Food problem can be sorted out easily as their good restaurants within walking distance of resort. Overall it was a rather enjoyable and comfortable stay.

“Expensive for not a lot...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012 via mobile

I stayed here last year and i loved the hotel so this year i thought we'd stay there again.... Well... You cant really say its a bad place to stay because its not... But what i did notice this year is that its soooo expensive for not alot....
Rooms - we payed £570 for 3 nights in a villa... Sunbeds outside were 80% reserved for the people with the beach front rooms (witch where empty) so you would have to run to get a bed if the sun came out (it rained whilst we where there)and beds were only round the pool area for us paupers with villas. Very down grading!!
Food and drinks - well the bar was never open the whole time we where there, but they are so over priced so we went to the beach club next door - on the beach, always open and busy with good food, £1.50 for a cuppa where as here £4.00
Other things got me too... Late transfer pick ups (£70 pp shouldnt be late) pool was dirty, the people with the beach front rooms seemed to get better service, on our drop off we got put in a truck with everyones luggage where the others had own private 4x4 but we all payed the same price and we were at front of que but she asked are room number and was moved.. - but hey that could just be me !! Overall next year im going somewhere else....

“The best place I have ever stayed in Thailand”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

This place is magic. Although my fifth time to Thailand we stupidly booked during November - wet season. However, the average weather has not dented our holiday one bit. My fiance and I booked a suite with a private pool and whilst c$330AUD per night it was worth it. When raining we went inside and lay on the downstairs, outdoor KS bed or went upstairs and watched Apple TV on the inside KS bed.

Cons: Nothing. Price? But you get what you pay for.

Pros:
- staff were excellent, attentive, truly exceptional service and lovely people
- breakfast is incredible. best buffet style breakfast I have ever had. homemade granola, toasted almonds, + great coffee, stuff you wouldn't even expect
- beautiful pool and rooms
- great part of the beach
- apple tv, fully loaded with tons of music and videos
- wifi very good
- bed and bathroom is amazing. I think we need to buy this mattress!
- good tanning areas!
- restaurant is probably best on this part of the island
- I can't go on as the list is too long, but we got engaged one week ago in Ko Tao (check Haad Tien, Ko Tao - that place, too, is mac as) and I couldn't have envisaged a better place to soak in the bliss. Even though it has rained a fair bit.

Stay here.

Room Tip: If the weather won't be amazing (ie. low season) you want a room with the upstairs/ downstairs a...
