“Tired, needs "tlc" & located 15 min walk out of Haad Rin”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2012 via mobile

Looks like it was very nice when it first opened, now very tired & neglected. Cold water shower w/ little pressure, appliances all left unplugged or non-existent. Aircon worked, lights not so much. No cleaning service in the 5 nights we were there. Pool is tiny & the steps up are WAY steep. Located 15 minutes walk south west of main Full Moon beach of Haad Rin, but only 2 minute walk across the street from the beach. The staff, a little Burmese couple A & Zo,were super friendly but spoke no English, only knew to make us bacon/eggs every day w/ OJ. When we asked where the owner was they managed to dig up a tan, tattooed Italian pimp named Enrico who was barefoot, wearing jeans, no shirt, leather vest & backwards Kangol hat. Look out for the cobras ;)

“Family Villa is perfect for Family stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2011

We stayed for a week in Family Villa and it was perfect for us.
Since eating at the restaurant in the nearest town Haad Rin area cost us a lot, we cooked by our selves in the villa. The kitchen in the villa is well equiped (big fridge too) and living room area is quite comfortable to eat meals and relax as home for family with kids.

1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2010

Got a rash from the pool. There was a leech in the shower! There was a sign in the bathroom asking guests not to put toilet paper in the toilet... Instead to put it in the bucket provided! Don't stay here!!!!

“Avoid. No, really avoid.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2010

800 metres from the full moon...? Nearer a mile, and not exactly flat...up and down all the way. Not their fault though...
Charming villa, with a nice, if small pool. 2 friendly staff, who serve your complimentary (?) breakfast anytime till around 2 o'clock. However after 2 days, they still hadnt cleaned the villas (our group was staying in a few) and when we finally asked since we had run out of loo paper, they said we had to ask them to clean the villas...Okay....'can you clean the villas everyday?' Nope, have to ask each day otherwise it doesnt happen. Apart from that, the two staff who work there are genuinley very friendly and we have no problem with them at all. They were really nice. However, during your complimentary breakfast, if you order a tea and an orange juice (freshly squeezed), thats fine. Two orange juices (as we had done every day), they charge you for the second orange juice. Never in the 6 days when we stayed there did they mention that we were being charged for part of our complimentary breakfast. 'It was probably on the menu?' Nope, no menu. Website? Not a chance. They'd never even mentioned it, written it down on a piece of paper, or done anything to show that the second glass was very different from the first. Absolutely no rules of engagment anywhere. No prices (which were ridiculous - 70 baht for a glass of iced orange juice compared to a decent pint bottle costing around 20) Same goes for the tea and coffee. Hardly a big deal? It ended up costing (just for the tea, coffee and orange juice) around 1600 baht. We were very happy to pay for the canned drinks, the bottled water and beer and the mini bar, despite them being ridiculously expensive (no big deal - its the same everywhere) and the price not being revealed to us until the very end of our stay (no menus in the minibars either). (They also charged different amounts for the same drinks, from the same place on different days...???)
So really no big deal, right? Just expensive drinks?
When we finally got our bill at the end, it ended up costing more than one persons stay at the villa for a week (true-and we didnt really drink there - we had a total of 13 bottles of beer for example between us all, for the whole week.) We bit the bullet with the canned and bottled drinks, but when we saw the tea, coffe and orange juice, and started to complain about all of the above, the staff gave their italian manager a phonecall. Surely they were part of our complimentary breakfast. After an increasingly heated exchange in which he truly evoked his sick daughter, he hung up on the phone (he was on another island at the time). Less than five minutes later, this second italian turns up who is his number 2, and immeadiately calls us f*****g stupid (this was the first thing he said, and we had never met him before), and says he is off to call the police (which we gladly let him pretend to) and after saying that if we dont pay, we would end up paying 10 times the amount of the bill. He then told his two staff members to take all of our passports off us. They clearly just refused to do this. (We all had our passports on our person, as we paid for the hotel at the beginning of the week.) He was rude, arrogant, forceful and demeaning. We were being calm and quite and polite. (...to an extent) He was frankly, fairly similar to the owner. All of this over the part of the bill that we hadnt paid, for tea coffee and orange juice. Finally, the owner who had hung up on one of us, called back, and told us that we were free to go without paying for the 1600 for the tea coffee and orange juice, and told us quite plainly that if we didnt leave the island today, or if we ever came back, we were 'dead men'.
Charming.
Nice views though.

“Great Place to Stay in Koh Panghan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2010

I stayed in this hotel during the full moon party on May, 2010. Service was excellent with warm hearted owner and staffs.

Excellent Italian coffee was served by very friendly staffs who are actually a husband and wife, and the everytime I finish the coffee the cup disappears for clearning without even noticing.

Any requests for service will be treated with a warm smile in this hotel. Also the location is very nice with excellent privacy to keep distance from the craziness often seen on this island, but only 3 minutes away from the great parties if needed.

I will definitely come back to Al Colosseo Palace on my next trip. You can stay with style and great place to impress your girlfriend or wife for a good get away.

Also the free internet speed was very fast and I was able to keep up with my emails.
