“Perfect place on the Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

The Hotel is located on a nice private Beach and the rooms are only a few meters from the sea, so you have a very nice view from the room and the balcony. The rooms are kept clean and it has a very big bathroom. The restaurant serves good authentic Thai food at reasonable prices. Outside the Hotel there are a only few other hotels with restaurants, cafes and bars, but you need to go to Thong Sala, 80 Baht per person in a Taxi, to find a little city life. The hotel also rents out Scooters, but they can't offer any kind of Insurance.

A great, friendly place to stay. We had a the green papaya room, which was perfect. If we weren't on the beach, we could sit on our balcony and enjoy the beach view. A 25 minute walk or 50 baht pp ride into town. Great food at great prices right at the hotel. Minimal toiletries, but that was ok since we had enough of our own stuff. They had a few (6 or so) DVDs that you could borrow. We were a couple, but there were quite a few families there who seemed to be enjoying it. Shallow beach. Did feel the rocks in the shower could have been cleaner as they had a bit of green slime on them.
Overall, a wonderful place to be.

We stayed here with our 2 young boys ( 1 and 4) and it was just excellent. Location is close to town but far away from the party zone so it is really quiet, clean and very, very relaxing. The bungalow is right on the beach, very clean and has everything you need, regarding the fact that we were on the beach all day or at the excellent restaurant. We took a motorbike over the island but we never encountered any thing close to Sabai, really this is one of the nicest places we've ever stayed before and would definately go back here if we visit Phangnan again.

Sabai beach is the perfect place to relax!! The staff are absolutely brilliant; always smiling and so happy to help. They work really hard to keep the beach looking awesome and have a lovely relaxed family atmosphere.

There were lots of young families staying when I visited with my partner and it seemed to suit them perfectly. It was also no problem for us because the beach is quite long and it felt like we had it to ourselves the whole time! There is also a fantastic view of a sunset over an island in the distance. The location is away from the party part of Koh Phangan so possibly not ideal for everyone but was perfect for what we wanted when visiting the island.

The bungalows are well located and look great. We had a beach front one and it had both fridge and aircon. It was great to have a couple of deck-chairs outside to help us relax. Would be even better if there was a pool at this resort but with the beach right outside you're room it's not a necessity.

Overall a lovely friendly resort that I would highly recommend.

It is a luxury bungalow resort with a fantastic relaxed vibe. It is very quiet, which is just what we were after and would not suit those looking for the party side of phagnan. 'Good for your sleep' as the taxi driver told us! The family who run it were very helpful and always greeted with a smile. A huge amount of effort is employed with the beach raked daily for example. Something many of the high end resorts on Koh Samui should pick up on! Would highly recommend!

We stayed at the Sabai Beach Resort for 5 nights in July for the end leg of our honeymoon. We had an amazing time relaxing and unwinding from hectic Bangkok. The resort was impeccably maintained. The beach was raked and combed of seaweed and other debri that washed up ashore each morning. Our beach bungalow was clean and had a excellent view of Koh Samui and the Ang Thong Islands in the distance. The trees that line the beach provided a natural source of shade and the beach was almost deserted for much of the time. The family that owns/runs the place were beyond helpful and cooked the best traditional thai food! If we felt like venturing out we ate at Amsterdam bar (excellent views) or we walked down the beach and ate at another resort restaurant. We had nothing but amazing food. This is an excellent place if you want to unplug, relax and get back to what life is all about. We can't wait to come back!

Where to start? Positives: you can beat a bungalow right on the beach, the authentic Thai experience. It's a shame the beach is not very nice at all, the only time you can swim in it is at high tide. Considering there is no pool, this is a massive disadvantage. The restaurant has good, yummy food and good prices but you have to eat here a lot as there is nothing else within walking distance. The bungalows are fine, apart from the ant invasion and noisy air con. The children of the owners are nice but I just witnessed one of them taking a leek on our door step. The breakfast is pretty basic but what is on offer is good. Overall not the best experience at the Sabai Beach Resort and wouldn't recommend to family or friends
