“Pretty good!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

My friends and I stayed here for two weeks or so and really liked it. The staff can be a bit hit and miss with how friendly they are, but we're all human so I'll forgive them for that. They were pretty helpful when I had a few travel issues and making bookings for travel to the other islands.

The food's good too, though being vegan I went looking for other places to eat most days. But it's pretty tasty and my friends liked the food. It wasn't uncommon to see people who were staying elsewhere at the restaurant.

The superior bungalows are a good size, are clean and are cleaned well when requested.

It's a really nice quiet area too. Head down to Heaven bar on the beach for a chilled drink or two.

If you want somewhere to stay for Full Moon stay in Haad Rin or Ban Tai though, it's too far away for taxis. It's okay for the smaller parties that are in Ban Tai though.

The staff were unfriendly to the point of rudeness, and after demanding a 50%(!) deposit for the duration of our stay, refused to refund any of it when we decided not to take their accommodation. We gave them 48hrs notification that we had changed our minds, and this was during high season. The owner and another woman both shouted at us in the public restaurant - despite not actually even requesting a refund; only informing them that we would not be taking the room.

Why not? The place is awful! The bungalows are packed together to extract the maximum value out of their miserable little strip of beach. They all face directly onto one another across a concrete path running between them. There is a pitiful attempt at a garden at the top, but that is just depressing.

The place is cheap and nasty. Avoid!

Room Tip: Don't!

I stayed at Jungle Hut for 3 nights with my boyfriend. The woman at the reception is very kind and happy to help also for train and boat tickets. The room was really simple but for the price we payed we were really satisfied. The kitchen is also very good. The only negative aspect is that you can find spiders or insects... but it's normal since you are in the middle of nature (!) and the owners are always happy to help :)

Staff were unfriendly & lazy. We booked it for 5 nights for the full moon & no taxi would bring us to it as it was too far away so we only slept there 1 night. We got charged an extra half day the day after the full moon even though the owner knew we couldn't get home any night. The night we arrived we were starving. She said restaurant was serving food until 10.30 & when we asked for food before 10.30 she was disguised. She asked us to leave straight after dinner which wasn't even nice, even though we had bought a drink because she was tired. Book early & spend the money to stay closer to full moon. Check out Friendlys (AC & Pool) where our friends stayed.

We stayed nearby in a budget room in an more upmarket resort. We enjoyed the food in jungle hut and the relaxed vibe (and very good prices in the restaurant) so much that we ate here every day.

Resort had a nice vibe, staff were so nice and food great.

Will stay here if we come back to Phangan

We stayed at Jungle Huts for 8 nights in one of the bungalows and enjoyed it immensely. One of the cheaper options for bungalows, but it's on a beautiful beach and has great food at the restaurant. The only problem was that they cook everything to order so it takes a while, especially if it's busy. But you have to wait for quality. The staff is very friendly, and cleaned our room on request, which was great 'cause sand gets everywhere. It is far from FMP but that's a plus; the places near Haad Rin are generally crowded and loud. It's surrounded by other conveniences (minimarts, motorbike rentals, ATMs, Wipeout, bars). The beds weren't super comfortable, but that's my only complaint.

After reading the reviews one of the main things I was expecting was friendly staff didn't find this my even an hello when we arrived! The guy who is always in the resturant lives close was friendly than the staff!! Stayed for 5 nights asked for room to be cleaned on day 3 after a 20 minute discussion with another member of staff took the key off me went back to get the key as needed something out of the room and was told room wasn't cleaned as they were busy I said this is fine but could I have clean towels and sheets ended up changing ourselves and bins weren't emptied during out stay.. Food was good in resturant however didn't eat there again after seeing a mouse in one of the staffs dinners and telling them to say oh it's a mouse and leaving it to eat the rice!! Room was nice air com good a lot of geckos in the bathro but this wasnt a problem.. If you are going for full moon it is too out the way 40 minute drive! 200 b in taxi. Hotel next door staff friendly food really good and you can use pool if u eat there rooms are cheaper I would check out there instead.
