“Great place but too busy!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2012

Overall, the resort itself is good. It's a little pricey for Koh Phangan but the view from the oversea view cottages is fantastic, and the staff will help you out with whatever you need. We stayed 11 nights and although the first 2 were wonderful and peaceful and just what we wanted, the rest of the time the place was overrun by kids. The pool was full the majority of the time and as no parents or staff were supervising, there was dive bombing galore, which was annoying, noisy and dangerous. Non-guests are also allowed access so there is no chance for a swim. As Haad Salad beach is not good for swimming, this was disappointing. We had to ask someone's kids to stop yelling from the top of the hill down to the beach. Also, there really isn't room to accommodate everyone at breakfast. This is our third visit to Koh Phangan and although we liked Cookies to begin with, we wouldn't choose to go back there because of the holiday camp atmosphere.

Room Tip: Great view from Oversea View Cottage No 11

Second time we have stayed here in two years. Great place to stay - Aom (the owner) is amazing as are all the staff. Last year we stayed up the hill and enjoyed the steps as it kept our fitness up (shame on those who have critisied having to walk up steps...) and the view was amazing. This year we stayed in 2 rooms on the sea level - both great.
We have tried many other places on Koh Phangan and keep comong back to Cookies. This trip we stayed at another resort on Koh Chao Prao based on Trip Advisor reviews and although nice was extremely quiet so we came back to Cookies. A very kid friendly place - lots of fun and kids around which is what we want.
Thanks Aom and all the staff. See you next year!!!

Room Tip: The new rooms on sea level are beautiful and big enough for families.

We stayed at the Cookie's in one of the "oversea view cottages" (which is actually not a cottage but two rooms next to each other - you still have your own privatsphere though) for four nights in May 2012. Cookie's is perfectly located on the hill at the left (south) end of the Haad Salad beach. From our bungalow, which was located right above the restaurant, we had a great view over the whole bay. Our room was very spacious with a/c. There were a few drawbacks though:
- there was no mosquito net
- one of the mattresses was very worn so that one of us had a little problem with backaches
- there could have been a shelf or something similar to put the clothes on (we used a bench and did not really mind since we were travelling with backpacks anyway but there are probably a few guests who could be annoyed about that)
- we could not sit on our terrace during the day since there was always an unpleasant smell of waste in the air (we stayed there at the hottest time of the year though)

However, the room and the whole resort were very clean so we didn't know where the smell actually came from (probably because of the heat...). Apart from that we really liked everything the Cookie's offered:
- the staff was really, really friendly and helpful in every matter
- the restaurant has a great view over the bay (very romantic with all the lights) and very comfy big two-people-chairs, nice music accompanying your dinner - the perfect place for having a good time..!
- the food was the best we had on our holidays!! we only hat Thai (spicy - we asked for it..) dishes for dinner and strongly recommend to at least try the different curry dishes they offer. plus great fruit shakes as well - we really like to go back...
- there is a nice refreshing pool right on the beach which we really enjoyed

And yes, there is a strong hill you have to "climb" to get to your room but that is why you have such amazing views over the bay - so we didn't mind at all :-) (and if you take the seaview cottage you only have a short way to get to your room)

We really enjoyed the atmosphere there and we would go there again for sure!!

We chose this side of the island because it is on the quiet side of Koh Phangan so if you want to party this is not the place for you. We really enjoyed our stay at Cookie's Salad Resort we were in a room right at the top of the hill next door to the manager's room. We had an en-suite room with a balcony complete with hammock which had a beautiful view over the beach. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. There were no mosi nets on the sliding doors but a large mosi net is placed over the bed - top tip keep the doors shut around 6-7 in the evening (mosi hour). A steep path leads down to the reception and restaurant, we ate breakfast in the restaurant every morning and enjoyed walking along the beach to the other hotel restaurants for our other meals. There is a little swimming pool a little further down the path. We were made to feel very welcome. We booked a boat trip through the hotel 'No woman no cry tour' which we really enjoyed - four stops at different snorkel sites and includes lunch, a great way to see the island. The beach itself was nice to walk along and the bay pretty to look at - but the water is so shallow that it is not a great swimming beach and the sea floor has a lot of sea cucumbers...

We stayed here for 3 nights after the full moon party and it was perfect for our needs which were to chill out. It is kind of in the middle of nowhere but it is on the edge of haad salad beach which has a good few resorts along the beach. My room was lovely and big with lovely wooden furniture and very clean and had a hammock right outside the door. There is a fairly steep hill going down to restaurant from our room but its worth it as the food was lovely and they have loveely big chairs perfect for chilling out and listening to music. The pool is just below the restaurant and there is sun chairs to catch some rays. Only problem we had was that it is built in the hill of a jungle so we had a small problem with moths getting into the room under the sliding door but nothing a coil and leaving the light on outside wont fix. Overall had a lovely stay here and would recommend if your looking to relax.

We booked this hotel after reading 50/50 reviews about the place. Location is far away from the main towns but the hotel has enough amenities to cater for a few days of peace and quiet, yet the beachfront is full of bars and restaurants if your looking for a change if scene. The staff were amazing very friendly and accommodating and give you great advice. The restaurant had good food, great views and competitive prices for the area. Only fault it that there can be a gap between bedroom doors and one night we got alot of flying bugs in the room. Reception did give us a bug coil for the following nights. Overall it was a lovely stay.
