“Amazing staff, amazing view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2011

We've been to Cookies's Salad resort for 2 nights during our honeymoon in Thailand, and we've enjoyed every moment with the amazing staff.
First of all, when we've landed in Koh-Phangan, it was a very rainy day, but the hotel owner herself came to pick us up, and even gave us her umbrella!
The hotel is located in Haad Salad, a quiet little bay in north west of Koh-Phangan.
The view from the room was outstanding! the hotel observes the whole beach, and from every room we could have seen all of it.
There are only 2 "problems" with this hotel: It's isolated from any activities around (The area is closed at 10 PM), and the restaurant that serves a too small dishes.

This place is highly recommended for couples, who want to relax from all the noise and parties in Haad-Rin, and enjoy they beauty and quietness of the area.

This place is such good value. It has a lovely (small -ish) pool and is on a really relaxing beach. The breakfast was really great and filling. The rooms had mosquito nets, fridge, tv's and felt really clean. The staff were really helpful in helping us book various trips. We paid the equivalent of £26 a night for two people. Well worth it!

We got a bed that must have been 10 years old. The springs were completely ruined and we both woke up with a sore back.
The view from the balcony of our room was really lovely and we would have stayed if there was some atmosphere at the restaurant. The other big minus for us is that we like to travel on bikes and the hill getting to a from the hotel was an accident waiting to happen. Oh and the pool was not clean.
After the two nights we had already paid for on the net had passed we were already booked into another hotel for the remainder of our stay on the island.
I suggest booking one or two nights are seeing if this beach and hotel are for you. As I said we may have just been unlucky as it was the low season and they may not have had all staff on board, but we will not go back there.

Room Tip: Best to check the bed if you plan on having a decent nights sleep.

Cookies Salad was a great escape after the intense bustle of Bangkok. We felt like we had our own private beach oasis. We stayed in the room on the very top, right corner and it was just perfect. We had a beautiful view and a hammock to swing in while we weathered out the rain we had our first day there. The trek up to the top part of the hotel is pretty steep but it's not that bad. I recommend bringing a small flashlight in case you wander around at night as the pathway and stairs aren't very lit up. The restaurant had good food and there were some other nice options if you take a short walk down the beach. The staff were pretty friendly and helpful as far as getting rides places, etc. They picked us up from the ferry when we arrived and dropped us off as well, as it's pretty far north from where the ferry comes in. The setting is beautiful. There weren't many people there when we went (there were protests happening in Bangkok at the time) so the hotel was quiet and the pool area always had a chair, although their lounge chairs aren't very comfortable, so we'd usually go to the resort next door and lay on theirs with cushions! ha. I'm not sure if it would be different during a busier time. I wouldn't recommend staying in the room right over/next the pool (unless maybe you have kids in tow), as I think it would be pretty loud with people and kids splashing under you.
If you are feeling adventurous, ask some of the locals how to get to the bar up the hill behind the beach that is in a tree. We saw a local Thai band playing reggae and ska and it was the most fun night we had in Thailand!
If there were direct flights straight to Koh Phangan my house in the US, I would go back to this place in a heartbeat! (our train trek from Bangkok was quite the experience, you may want to inquire about flying if you're not up for the night train). It's a beautiful spot and perfect if you want to get away from it all!

We travel to Asia every year for at least a month and have stayed in many hotels of many standards. Cookies rates up there at the top. Fantastic location, the best staff you could hope to meet let alone look after you. Aom the owner is so helpful and business-like. She is kind attentive and helpful.

Food is great, view is spectacular, rooms spacious and stylish. If you are going to Ko Phangan you would be mad not to choose Cookies. Would love to go back one day. Thank you Aom and the rest of staff for the lovely holiday. Howie, Paula, Ethan and Reuben.

I LOVED Cookies!
From the moment we arrived I felt so relaxed and at peace. The staff are fabulous, always cheery and smiling and nothing is too much trouble. I loved the bar/restaurant area with a stunning view of the beach, the food was really really good and cheap, the cocktails are wonderful, even the music they play in the bar area is spot on! They have a dog, it looks a bit scabby but he is lovely and friendly.I just can't fault the place at all. The pool is lovely and just the right size, they have lots of loungers and these great bed like wooden chill out spaces too right by the pool/beach.
We stayed in the top floor sea view room 303. Large room with a kingsize bed/mosquito net, decent size bathroom, fridge, TV and a large balcony complete with hammock and an amazing view of the bay. Yes there are lots of steps to climb but its so worth it for the view and I just saw it as my daily exercise!
The resort is so peaceful and relaxing. The area has a few bars/restaurants but its not a place for partying. The beach was lovely and great for snorkelling too. We hired a scooter and explored the island and I am so glad we chose Haad Salad and especially Cookies.

Cookies was one of the highlights of our trip. Haad Salad is a gorgeous beach and we felt so lucky to stay at Cookies. The service was amazing and the atmosphere was relaxed and happy. Couples, backpackers, families, everyone was smiling and happy at Cookies.

We stayed in Seaview Bungalow #9. The perfect walk up the hill to get a little exercise after eating some of Cookies delicious food. We loved our porch hammock and lovely view. Everyone at Cookies cares- from the personal greeting to the fantastic food and staff- it was just amazing. Try the garlic pepper shrimp, Pad Thai, and Vegetable Spring Rolls- we wish we could go back right now!
