“Beautiful, peaceful bungalow”

We were recommended this place by a fellow traveller in Bangkok and it was lovely.

We paid £20 a night for a little bungalow with en suite and a great breakfast.

The bungalows are across the road from Khlong Muang beach and down the road from a few bars (one irish with some good drinks offers and food) and a small restaurant/shop complex near a large international hotel resort. These are within walking distance, it's a fair walk to the complex but makes for a nice stroll before/after dinner. There is a shop just across the road. The place is very quiet but the resort restaurant serves up great food and you can arrange trips from the office.

Ao nang is a little drive away but taxis are easily arranged and I think cost around 500 baht (we're now in Perth and this seems like a lifetime ago!).

The room was cleaned daily and spotless, pretty simple but we had everything we needed and the setting was lovely. They offer a laundry service which we used and the family/staff were fantastic. An English guy is married to one of the daughters and he was a great source of local knowledge and always really happy to chat.

Such a lovely place, we stayed an extra few days :)

“Quiet place away from the crowds”

Kaw Kwang Beach Resort

Kaw Kwang is a little isolated but has a nice atmosphere. The facilities are spacious, the staff are friendly and all-in -all it's a good place for visitors who just want to "kick back". It gets REALLY busy over Christmas and New Year, with returning guests from Europe, so you will need to book many months in advance at that time of the year.

BTW it's nowhere close to Ao Nang or Krabi - as the previous writer suggests. We took a minivan service from Krabi Town - took about 3 hours each way

“Nice little huts, very secluded area”

Cute little huts but in the middle of nowhere. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The beach isn't that great - can't really swim in the water or lounge on the beach. Taxis will be very hard to come by as the area is very secluded. Accommodations are very basic - be prepared with some Deet, as there are mosquitos in the rooms and the beds have a damp musky smell. If you're looking for a quiet time with minimal necessities, this might be a good place. If you're looking for activities, you may want to try Ao Nang beach. Taxi to Krabi City is about 35min and to Ao Nang is about 30min.

On first arriving to this property we got a bit of a shock as there was rubble around everywhere. After investigating a little further we discovered that it was still being cleaned up and rebuilt after the tsunami. The property is directly on a secluded part of a lovely beach at the end of the island. We took a seaview room and loved it, the rooms are simple but nice and clean. The air conditioning works well enough after it took half a day to cool the room it was fine. It is in a quiet part of the Island close to Saladan Town. The pool area is excellent and the staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. The assistant manager took us out to the town one night and drove us around all of the sights of the Island the next day, there was a fee for this service however it was extremely cheap and he was great company. The dinning room is just a gazebo in the middle of the lawn over looking the beach, very simple but nice. Meals are simple but good. When the renovatios are completed there will be a resturant above the reception which will offer magnificent views. This property is in a quiet part of Lanta so if you are after a lot of other people around this is not for you. If you are looking for something out of the way that is quiet with lovely beach, pool, great service than this property might be for you. It is far from the most luxurious hotel I have stayed in but for the price it is a bargain.
