We were pleasantly surprised at how private and tastefully decorated our room was. We had our own detached bungalow, outdoor washroom and private garden, where we were able to take our breakfast, if we so desired. The hosts were nice and very helpful--although they did charge us inordinately high prices for the tours we booked. (look around!)

Lanta is a wonderful island if you are looking for complete peace and serenity! It may be out of the way but definitely worth the trip if you want to experience true relaxation!

PS- be sure to check out one of the many seafood restaurants dotted around the saladan pier area...you can pick whatever seafood you desire and have the chefs cook it any way you like! We loved Lanta Seafood Restaurant!

I would also like to say a big thankyou to the staff of Ancient Realm Resort & Spa for making our holiday in Koh Lanta so lovely. After reading the reviews on Tripadvisor, we thought we would give the resort a try, and we were happy that we did. So to waste no time here is my two cents also.
Beach is good. View is good. Food is great. Rooms are nice. Spa is one of the best. Service comes with a smile. Overall a great holiday.
We really needed relax time and this was the place to stay for just that.
I was in the spa most of the time. Our beachfront room was nicely decorated and the atmosphere was stunning. The aiport pickup service was right on time and from the minute we stepped into the place until we left we did nothing but relax and eat eat eat and eat some more.
The cost of everything from the rooms to the food and drinks and the spa massages and tours were very well priced.
Try the fantastic "Larb Moo" in the restaraunt.
The weather was perfect for most of our time spent considering it was supposed to be the monsoon season. The last few days of our stay were raining and the beach a bit murky, but we still enjoyed the jacuzzis because they have thatched roofs over them and the water stays warm.

We are very pleased with the price and the value for money from this resort. We like the small resort atmosphere and the welcoming owners.

We were afraid that it would be raining all the time after the plane touching down in krabi amongst grey clouds and stormy weather (turbulance much), but when we were driven to lanta, the sky was blue and remained that way for our days of exploring the island.

The rooms are incredible value for money (very cool and thai decorated), and look exactly, if not better, than on their website.

The service and staff were nearly over-the-top friendly! The thai people always seem to be so happy!

We were surprised to find a few things in the resort that we didn't know when previously booking - such as free computer and internet to use and also they had jacuzzi whirlpools.

There are not many tourists on the island, especially the south which actually makes it all the more enjoyable to cruise around on the motorbike/scooter. The resort staff helped us with sight seeing, not by hard selling, but just by nice good old fashioned friendly advice on where to go and what to see - a nice touch.

We took some great photos and shared them with the owners because they wanted to put them up on their website picture gallery!

Stayed here last week and I also agree with the last two reviewers! This place is surely a gem standing out from the crowd of resorts on Koh Lanta! We really enjoyed staying at Ancient and would definitely recommend it to other travelers. If they had any teething problems in the beginning, which most hotels do, they have all been ironed out now! The staff always had smiles on their faces, they went out of their way to please us everyday, kept the rooms spotlessly clean and really gave us an overall good feeling and impression of Thai people. The management was also great. Clint & Suki talked to us a lot about everything – the history of the place (lanta and the resort), helped us with activities, helped us with some minor issues when we had a small accident on our motorbike, and also took the time off to have a few laughs in the bar.

The rooms were great value, always clean, fridge always restocked, hot water was great, bed was marvelous and all round top knotch. You definitely get more than what you pay for. The new restaurant they are working on was open and the food tasted good and at good prices. We also enjoyed the swimming pool and spa tubs late at night, as they don’t mind you going in if you don’t make too much noise. They were not heated, but the water was warm enough anyway.

I consider myself a seasoned “middle price range” traveler, and in my opinion there are not too many resorts where the facilities AND the service combined are both great. Ancient Realm is one of them. We are now in Bangkok and wish we could go back….
