“Great view, nice venue”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 days ago NEW via mobile

3rd stop on our trip of IndoChina and a really relaxing break. Staff were lovely and very welcoming and the hotel, despite being a little faded around the edges, was in the perfect position for sea views with a great pool (chilled!). We did find a cockroach in our room one night but hey, this is a tropical island! We had a high seaview room which was very quiet despite being quite close to the beach night scene. Other rooms were around the pool which also looked very nice.

This was great start to our vacation with andaman adventures (top points to them for putting together something that fit our budget and needs so good, then making it so that all went spot on and nothing went off the ball) and we can recommend to other travelers. The hotel grounds and area are attractive, comfortable and clean (this last is an absolute necessity for me), the staff was polite and happy – and oh yeah the food ! the food was very, very tasty. Nothing bad to report about this one !

I was nearly put off from the recent negative reviews, but what would I have missed, nice people, a stunning location and a great beach we had more or less to ourselves. The rooms are nicely arranged around a lovely looking pool and the people here could not be more helpful and forthcoming. Ok, is not a luxury resort, but who cares about a broken tile or two or if steps are exactly the same width, when you are rewarded with stunning views over a lovely remote beach, a great sea food restaurant and the island's best dive school directly in the resort.

Most of the suites/rooms surround the well maintained infinite pool which just about looks over the beach. The rooms have a luxurious feel to them but are a little warn in areas. The odd hole in fly screens and poorly laid tiles detract from what otherwise is a wonderful nest. The bar and restaurant are situated on the edge of probably the nicest sandy beach in koh-lanta which is only shared between two other similarly small and classy resorts. From the beach at night you could say the Baan lanta resort has the best looking bar with all the colourful lanterns and cosy seating.

The breakfast is not up to 4* standard. The breakfast is the usual toast, eggs, jams and friut. No imagination. Instant coffee for example should really be filtered coffee at minimum. There should be avacado on toast or perhaps a dash of hollandaise sauce. We avoided the restaurant each night. This was partly because it's nice to get out and that we tend to avoid sea food. From what I saw you choose your fish and they bbq it in front of you.

From the entrance to the resort there are a few shops and earthy cafes. Just about all you need. About 3k south there's a walk to a waterfall. You'll get to see a load of elephants and can feed them. You may bump into some monkeys who will keep their distance. There's plenty of other stuff to do. The usual boat tours of islands. Kayaking, elephant riding and of course trying out all the massage shops. Expect to pay around 300 baht for a thai massage. Bargain. All in all good value for money compared to most of the world but for the amount of money in Thailand i expected slightly better. In short i think some of the staff are poorly trained which is a shame because they mean well and all seem eager to learn and grow. I would return

Everything was wrong about this hotel.
Pro: the beach
Cons:-couldn't sleep because of live band until late
-dirty room and especially bathroom, we found weird stains that we thought was blood but they said it's paint
-no breakfast, only bread and cereals of very poor quality
-room is very tired and a number of items are damaged such as the mosquito net etc.
-mini bar fridge is so noisy that we couldn't sleep
-there was a bug in my wife's bacon this morning
-for more than half day there was no electricity in the whole hotel
-we found spider's web everywhere in the room
-the stairs are very dangerous and we felt a couple of times
-the staff doesn't care, they don't act professionally and are not train to handle guests

Don't go there!

Excellent quality and value for money hotel on this great, great beach : Kantiang bay. And lets also name the team at andaman adventures (our travel agents) for getting us that bungalow with seaviews - at the rate of the regular bungalows (which have no seaviews). That was a nice bonus. This hotel offers tasty food, and possibly the coolest beach bar on the island. Very enjoyable ! The pool and surroundings look beautiful and well-maintained, and miss Omm is just a daisy ! Thanks for a great time all

The terrace facing the beach drew us in and having had so much good food on the island we decided to try it out. It was one of the most expensive meals we had and such a disappointment. The fresh fish we ordered was supposed to be BBQ'd but it was lightly fried and covered with a slimy sauce with do much salt that I had to drink a quart of water through the night. The chicken curry was tasty but was a tiny portion and double the price of everywhere else on the island. There's so much good food around that it's just a waste of appetite and money to eat here.
