“Holiday to Paradise!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

Well after reading the reviews I was dreading my holiday to the point I didn't want to go. Me and my OH were travelling to Koh Lanta to visit my dad who was at the time travelling across the world. When we arrived the staff were lovely but most of all to our shock the room was lovely! Nice big bed, lovely balcony we even adopted a cat for two weeks!!

The food was awesome the thai breakfast was a bit much on a morning so just had eggs and toast with fruit... no complaints!! We grabbed lunch here a couple of times and the burgers were yummy but the pad thai was to die for!!! And on top of all that they did the best pina coladas!

Koh Lanta was like heaven.... the people were friendly the beach was amazing the snorkelling was excellent. We went on an excursion and ended up seeing two baby sharks!!!

All I can say is dont always trust other peoples reviews because this was the best holidayI have ever had!!!!

We stayed at the Bamboo bungalows and had a great time. The hotel breakfast is good and the view from the restaurant terrace is amazing. Motorcycles are for rent at the hotel, this is really a must to go around the island. The national park is jus a 10 minutes drive away and is really nice if you like hiking and monkeys!

We went in low season and found the staff were very quiet and not particularly outgoing (they may have actually been temporary staff, as some renovations were taking place). It was also just after Ramadam, so the whole island was fairly quiet but likely picks up significantly during peak season.

The plus side of low season meant the gorgeous beach was almost empty, and offered great opportunities for body surfing in the waves. Our room, perched on the cliff overlooking the beautiful tropical beach and backdrop, was excellent.

Evenings we're spent in the Why Not bar on the beach, watching the excellent fire show, and listening to the house rock band.

Located in the south of Koh Lanta the cabins overlook the magnificent bay. Our place was totally fine, no complaints at all. The staff were lovely, the food was good and I would be delighted to go back there. You really have to spend time in the south, its so much nicer and quieter. This is a good base for exploration.
Rent a moped and disappear into the forest or go further down.

Room Tip: Its worth paying extra for the clifftop rooms with the view.

We looked around a few places in Kantiang Bay before choosing this place, and were generally very happy. We got one of the clifftop bungalows, which had a fantastic view of the bay and was spacious and comfortable - excellent value at 800 Baht (off season). It could have been cleaner (spent 10 minutes wiping the windows down, which improved the view no end) and there were ants, but at the price it compared favourably with other places we stayed in Thailand. The staff were friendly and helpful, though they only service the rooms on request. I find it hard to believe one of the reviews below which claim this place is run by the Thai mafia - we had a minor incident with one of their hire scooters and returned it with a few scratches, but they told us not to worry, and were more concerned about our bumps and grazes. The restaurant in the off season keeps very irregular hours, but with the excellent Drunken Sailors cafe just down the hill this was no problem.
The main problem we had here, and it really wasn't their fault, was the beachside bar (think it was called the Why Not Bar) just along the shoreline, whose band played really loud, out-of-tune covers of classic rock songs from 9pm to midnight every night. We thought it was karaoke the first night, but it turned out that the band just had a very bad singer. If you like that sort of thing it may be OK, but it rather destroyed the otherwise restful ambience of the bay. We hired a lot of DVDs from the Drunken Sailors which helped to drown it out.

Room Tip: Worth paying the extra few Baht for a clifftop room.

The resort is located at a beautiful spot with great views and lovely atmosphere. The cabins look quaint and welcoming on the outside but inside the cleanliness was not the best. The wet room looked tired and unclean and so my girlfriend and I opted to shower and clean in our reef shoes - just to be safe!

During our stay they hosted about 2 parties which were loud and went on till the small hours of the morning so unlike us who were expecting a chilled out quiet stay this might be to your liking depending on your preference...

The location of Lanta Marine is a short hop to convenient stores for those emergency walks to get a few bottles of Chang beer and snacks. Plus you had a lovely choice of different restaurants to eat from on the beech so every night of eating out included a lovely walk on the beech followed by a great meal!

the amount of money we're paying for the room I would expect more, the staff is friendly and eager to help but attention to detail is lacking. Wifi only works in the lobby area and not in the rooms.

-shower curtain is actually a curtain... it was not big enough for the whole window. shower with the possbility of other people looking in is not good.
-shower hose is broken, water was shooting half way. this was fix the next day though.
-there was no hot water but this was fix when we notify them.
-there is no phone in the room, we had to trek up to the lobby to notify the problem.
-spiders were on the corner... attention to detail when cleaning is lacking.
