We arrived at this hotel after a 48 hour journey from Manchester, so we weren't too pleased to be put first in a room that didn't lock and then in one that smelt strongly of damp. The third one only smelt a bit so we stayed there for a week.
Ko Lanta is a lovely island - very laidback and enjoyable - I'd recommend it to friends. Sadly I couldn't say the same of this hotel.
It should be good. The grounds are pretty, the rooms are spacious and well decorated. The outside bathrooms are great. It is a little outside the main part of the island but tuktuks go pst all the time and it's only a 15 minute, 100 baht ride to the furthest place.
However, there was just too much wrong with the hotel:
- for 4 days in a row I had to find the owner to get it to work
- you have to pay for the wifi (what's that about? surely in this day and age it's like having to pay for water use!)
- the room safe was broken
- we rented scooters for a day and on checkout were presented with a bill for damages; this was four days after we'd rented them and was the first we'd heard that there were any damages!
Overall if the management spent less time trying to extract every last baht out of guests and more time getting the basics right this would be a great hotel. Until then it will just be ok.
