We stayed here on honeymoon and would highly recommend it. Check in was excellent, staff in general superb (apart from the restaurant / bar staff who couldn’t speak enough English to know what food and drinks were on the menu – we’ve been to Thailand a few times and have never expected anyone to speak English, but then we’ve never paid THB10,000 a night for a room - I’m normally one who believes that if you stay in another country then don’t expect the locals to necessarily speak English, but this place markets itself to international guests and certainly charges international prices, so the staff should at least speak enough English to understand what’s on the menu, which they didn’t. They were very friendly though and did try), location was excellent (at the end of a huge beach with lots of bars, near enough to walk, far away enough to be quiet), food in general good, cracking swimming pool, decent gym, good rooms with great bathrooms (if you’re going for a beach villa make sure you get 201 – 204, otherwise you’re not really on the beach, the suites on the beachfront looked a bit odd, like two separate rooms and very public). All in all we left feeling totally chilled and spoilt. The reception staff and the girl who cooked eggs at breakfast in particular helped this.

I don't understand the bad reviews about this hotel at all. We had a wonderful stay there and would go back anytime! Maybe some people are meant for traveling and should stay home.

anyways- we stayed here for 5 nights and had a very nice time. The grounds are well kept and the overall design of the hotel is clean and modern. It's not worn down at all. The service was great and the room was very comfortable.

We stayed in the back rooms which were fine. yes, it was a few minutes walk to the front of the hotel, but actually a nice walk. Besides if you can't walk somewhere for a couple of minutes, then you really should try getting more fit. They would also give you rides on the golf cart if you wanted to do so.

The sercurity here seemed good too, with guards walking around during the day and night.

We actually loved the back pool. It was much nicer than the front one because it was used less (so many kids in the front pool probably peeing in it all the time). The design of the back pool is very Zen like.

The hotel is full of Northern Europeans who love to put their towels on the sunbeds about 7:30am..and then not come back to the sun bed until about noon.

The food was very good at the hotel and the breakfast was decent.

My husband walked up and down the beach looking at the other hotels and said that the Twin Lotus seemed to be the best one on the beach. He said that the other ones were full of rift-raft and too crowded. At this hotel...we never felt overcrowded at all.

We called here at the last minute, when another booking fell through, and loved the place. We were upgraded to a room at the rear of the resort, hardly a long walk to the beach and reception (five minutes if you go as slow as possibe and they happily scoot you around in golf carts if you don't like to use your legs).
The staff were terrific, the rooms nicely decorated with a huge open shower area and an outside bath.
The rear pool is a little desolate but the area around it is tidy and getting towels is no problem. The beach is superb, lovely sand and safe swimming (wide beach, shallow, great for children). Great facilities but agree about the limited number of loungers.
We had a scooter for exploring the island but it is 10-15 minute walk to the restaurants in Ban Saladan town.
Overall, would definitely go back.

When we booked this hotel I could not find any reviews however the website looked good and it was reasonably priced and in a good location. We had arranged a pick up with the hotel which was overland (and took about 3 hours due to just missing a ferry!) so decided that for our return journey we would pay extra to go by speed boat.

We booked the basic room type which was decorated well and was clean although it was rather small.

The hotel grounds were nice - I agree with previous comments about the pool area at the back of the resort which appeared not to be used. The pool near the beach however was good and the beach itself was lovely and clean with very safe swimming. There is a desperate need for more sunbeds and umbrellas - you have to get up early or else it is a towel on the beach!

Breakfast is good and is served in what appeared to be the main restaurant however it was not used at all in the evenings. The bar by the pool becomes the restaurant in the evening. However the hotel is located within easy walking distance of some really good, cheap beach side restaurants and bars which all had a relaxed, laid back feel and are decorated with pretty lights. This for us was a real plus point as we did not want to be confined to eating at a hotel. The quality of food at 'Hans Restaurant' was particuarly good.

There are also plenty of trips organised off the beach with great snorkelling within easy reach.

Overall we had a really enjoyable, relaxing holiday on a beautiful beach with plenty of good restaurants and bars scattered along the shore. The island does not seem to be on the UK tourist trail (which I feel is a plus) so if you are looking for somewhere like Phuket this is probably not for you. If, however you are looking for a real Thai beach experience this could be the place.
